Apparently there's gonna be a pulling truck built similarly as well next year.

I don't think Steve's truck is going to be running in Pro-Street...
It looks like a pro-mod to me. Like the Predator truck, Keating machine and the new banks truck.

I have no idea what "class" this vehicle I mentioned will run in. I was told its a dedicated drag truck only (don't know if its in a tube chassis and fiberglass body or in a full-bodied truck). I don't think 900+rwhp is going to match up that well against the likes of Keating Machine and others so it may be in a lower level of class (not sure of class designations).

I just hadn't heard any numbers like the ones I posted fom #2 only yet and thought I'd add it into the mix. If the TTS and Banks truck are ProMod (assuming 1200+ rwhp???)thats even better! Whats that relate to as far as times? Estimated 8-sec or faster on good clean passes?

What are estimated power output for the ProMod level trucks? What do they run? Is the Scheid dragster in ProMod?

The guy that used to drive the Predator truck is gonna shoe the Banks truck. It is stupid light from what I understand. FYI the current Record in a truck bodied rail is 8.42 at 161. (predator)
Keating Machine has run 8.80 at 158, but he is spotting them about 600 lbs.

You will see 7's pretty quick next year. There are several trucks that will be running the mod class next year- Including a toyota with a powerstroke in it.

BANKS DEBUTS SIDEWINDER D-MAX TYPE-D DRAG RACE PICKUP

Prepped to be the quickest diesel pickup truck in the world, the Banks Sidewinder D-Max Type-D will be unveiled Tuesday, October 31st at the Nitrous Express Booth (#23067) during the SEMA show in Las Vegas.

A full-tube-chassis drag race pickup truck, the Sidewinder D-Max Type-D is fitted with a Banks diesel racing engine. The powerplant is a Duramax 6.6L LBZ V-8 with a Twin-Turbo arrangement and a highly modified Bosch common-rail fuel injection system.

Horsepower yields are 1000+, with quarter-mile times expected in the 7-seconds range.

The Sidewinder D-Max Type-D was designed, engineered and built by Gale Banks Engineering in conjunction with Bosch and General Motors. "This is the latest example of how Banks creates winning street power: by first developing endurance race engines of extraordinary power and durability," said John Espino, Engineering Manager at Gale Banks Engineering. "We put them to the test in complete project vehicles, and then adapt that power to the street." Banks' latest products for diesel and gas pickups, SUVs, motorhomes and Jeeps will be on display Oct. 31-Nov. 3 at the Banks Booth (#24075) at SEMA.

The TTS truck looks like the kind of insanely fast truck you would see in the pits and be able to walk up to whoever is driving or working on it and talk to them about it.
The Banks, although a nice drag rig, would be towed down from the shut-off area and pull in behind either a screen or some roped off pit section unaccesible to the fans or fellow drivers.

I'm glad to see the truck on the net, Its a really nice looking truck, Its a full on fiber glass body but the unique thing about the body is its a extended cab short box. You can only get this body in a standard cab long bed. So there was some major modifations that took place to make this happen, the truck is extremely light weigh as well. I know Steve put in some serious hours in this project, and had he hands on every aspect of the truck even doing some body work at one time, we fixed his mistakes so you cant see them anymore :) I really have to take my hat off to Steve and TTS for pulling this off, I really do not think he got over 3 hours of sleep a night for the last couple of months on this thing.
I will post some pretty cool pix's in the next few days

The Lenco is also serviceable at the track and different gear ratios are plentiful. That allows a "pioneer", such as a Duramax drag truck racer, to easily fine tune the tranny ratio's to suit the application. It's also very easy to add or remove speeds. Could be a 3 speed or a 6 speed if needed. Tower pressure or orifices can also be used to change shift characteristics.:)

Nice looking stuff!! I didn't see levers in Steve's truck. Might be air shifted also.:)

First "congrats" to TTS for the excellent buildup! :ro)

Concerning the Banks truck, while Banks is not currently selling components through retail channels, apparently you can buy the entire engine if you have $$$. Banks is not shy about showing their technology to gearheads either. I stopped by to get an intercooler, and they spent 2 hrs with me showing me all the goodies that go into their Dmax. Down to the custom pistons and dry sump oiling system. The same was true for their Sidewinder Cummins. If you are looking for secret squirrels, you aren't going to many of them at Banks.

Trust me, Banks is not the enemy. While they do not focus primarily on the racing-only aftermarket, neither does Edge, Predator, Bully Dog, Hypertech, etc, etc. 99% of the diesel aftermarket is <425hp tunes, so all the big companies aim for what sells.

Currently, the dominant force in diesel hot-rodding is the Cummins. Banks believes the Duramax is a superior performance engine. So in a way, we all have something in common with Banks.

The Banks truck at SEMA looked to have more of a show engine than a go engine in it. The turbo chargers were tiny and it only has a single CP3. I know they have the technology to build something more aggressive. There were Banks race intakes displayed in their booth, but when I asked for part numbers they just scratched their heads. The Sidewinder has been around for a long time now and still nothing available to the public. It does sound like Banks will bring their truck to some events next year. I hope they do! I looked all over the TTS truck for the hood latch and could not find one.:confuzeld Steve is not accepting driver applications either. I tried! The TTS truck is not something that was just thrown together. Every detail was built to the extreme! Good job Steve, but now the expectations start mounting. :grd:

The truck is a full size 2500 2wd extendcab short box. We built it to see what we could do with a full size truck just the same as most of our customers have. We could have built a S-10 like others have done but that just not what we wanted to do. We know we will be giving up 1000 lbs or more in the weight area and a bunch of airo drag but it's what we thought represented our customers trucks. The engine is an LLY based engine with twin turbo's. All the hard parts developed for the truck are going to be offered for sale so it becomes a very good test bed for our parts. The truck is about 80% complete at this point and it should be ready to do some racing next season. We will run it two ways, #2 only and #2 with NOS.

I think someone is making excuses because a certain S-10 is going to be tough to catch, much less run with. If I was going thru the trouble to build a race truck I'd start with the the smallest profile body and build the lightest chassis.

How can a fiberglass bodied Silverado on a tube chassis represent your customers trucks? Why make excuses? I would have believed "I like the Silverado body better than an S-10" or "I got a good deal on the Silverado" or something instead of "it's what we thought represented our customers trucks." Who's really going to believe that?

How much does it weigh? I know some guys that run a TTS Extreme at truck pulls and have about 2-300 lbs hanging on the front. So I figure they weigh about 7700lbs on an average day, so I'm guessing this truck is around 7700lbs? ......For parts testing purposes.

I got to see all the parts when I was at TTS in September, it wasn't painted yet and looks way better now. Saw the engine too, every piece of it. My twin turbos looked like actual hair dryers next to the ones he is putting on this truck. I really want to know what races you plan to take it to Steve, come up to Diesel Thunder in Spokane in August, that would be a great venue. Also Seattle both of those are really good tracks.:grd: :grd: By the way Michael, my new regular cab is not a Silverado, not a Sierra either, it's a GMC work truck, hope there is a class of fast Dmax's for it or Nathan and I better stop working on it now.;)

I'm in the process of mounting a dmax engine and tranny to my son's skate board, but it will have 2500 HD badges on it :)

I can't wait to see it! As long as you put some GMC badges on it, it will represent my truck. Good luck and post pics!!):h
