First off, this is my first post, so . . . HI. Been lurking for a while, and seen this question before, but not in the last month or so.

Evan from NW ARK, this will be my first Diesel,

I Just begin the search for a new truck, I want to hold out for an LLY but local dealer apparently likes collecting trucks, Not selling them.

Asked him what he could do for my trade and told me what my payment would be. I said what is that.

So he broke it down sales price, trade, rate ect. (Funny I never made an offer on the truck, and he asume 7% at 60 months!) I asked what invoice was, and the sales manager listening from across the lobby barked for every one on the show room to hear "why, , , We don’t sell the Duramax at invoice" I did not get smart, becouse I am not ready to buy. I just said "Ok" and will not go back.

I just pulled invoice he wants 2k over invoice. I assume I can still get a new 2004.5 at invoice, Assuming I can find what I want.

Any one have the same problem? We bought my wife’s Accord last year on the net, it was painless, and their are several dealers w/in 30-45 min. But they just don’t have enough inventory to have a choice. I just don’t want to waste my time driving around if they are all over invoice. Nor do I want to request invoice on the net when you folks are getting them under. This is all before rebates, , ,

Thanks, Very helpful posts. . .

yeah, this guy wanted sticker for a D MAX today, I asked if he was selling Mercedes or GM, he said why, I said because no idiot would pay sticker for that truck, he's like well they ONLY make 150,000 of them a year. I said exactly, thats about 3,000 per state per year, I'll go else were. Then he wanted to deal. Damn florida dealers, think everyone is stupid or something

I just bought mine on July 3rd. No real deals on the LT's in CA because they are very rare. But the LS was easy to get $500 over invoice ($38k here in CA) minus all the rebates and loyalty bucks.

Play the game right. Call the Internet sales team at 3 or more local dealers (even better if they are outta town) They will deal to get you to show up.

It is worth playing the game... this truck is awesome!

Bought mine june 5. Paid invoice of 39000 plus 4000 in rebates so 35000 compared to the 44000 sticker.

Evan,

Talk to Crystal at Best Motors in Bentonville. I made my deal over the phone and it was at invoce plus rebates. Took about 10 minutes. Walked in and signed the 0% papers and was off........

When I bought my truck they only had two 04.5s on the lot and they are getting hard to find. The 05 should be out fairly soon.

Go to Carsdirect.com. I got a price off there website and shopped local dealers here in CA. Took me about a week and picked up a 2004.5 Chevy LT CC DA/ALLI 4x4. Every option except XM satellite. Price was 38,750 after rebates. Could've gotten one cheaper but I couldn't wait to have it built. Had a time deadline so I needed one on the ground, ready to roll. The deals are out there. Just educate yourself as to what's on the lots. 05's will probably be a little more but not much.

Some new incentives on the way. Be informed before you buy. But also be weary as i understand no new orders only what is available on the lot unless u want a 2005.

thanks for getting back to me, Seems I need to head to B'Ville.

Any hint of new Incentives? I am not in a hurry PM me if I should wait a month. Best I can tell, I get 2500 for the 2500 and 1000 for wanting Limited slip with the Dmax (HD powerpack) what ever that means,

Couple of you mentioned 0% and rebates, I thought that was either or, how do I get both?

I know Ford had a small rebate and 0% or a large rebate? I have enough in trade to make that an interesting choice, I will Am it out and see the Life of Loan Savings

CJATE welcome to the group!

I used the Costco buying service, did my homework, and used the GM In The Driveway promo (info can be found here in other posts) and paid less than invoice. I got a good deal and didn't haggle, but I went in prepared and took my time. Luckily for me, I waited till December '03 to buy and it wasn't till after I'd placed my order that I found this site and realized there was a difference between LB7 and LLY and was fortunate enough to get the first batch of LLYs, so I'm glad I waited.

Not all of us like to negotiate, and some are definitely better than others, but I hate haggling, and I found the Costco buying program worked pretty well for me. If you don't like haggling with car salesmen, a Costco membership is maybe $35 and then you'll have access to the buying program which could recover your $35 and then some.

Good luck on your purchase!

Im seeing Cali is different than most other states.... As others, there seems to be a lack of Dmax LT's here. Not sure if its the CA emissions or what. I have a good connect at the local dealership. I got mine for $250 over invoice (freind fleet sales manager, and another loan oficer). There werent hardly anything available locally and was tough to get a dealer trade. Seems they are holding out on them. I was told that they wont sell them below 2.5k over invoice do to the apparent "shortage". I had a choice to wait for the 2005 to come out, but then it would be a gamble on the incentives at the time of their arrival and waiting to the factory to pump them out.

Got mine 2004 HD CC/SB SLT loaded for 42k OTD (sticker was 47.9K) plus got all the current incentives. I was a pain in my buddy's @$$ and hounded them to hook me up. I Cant figure out where the shortage is, unless its the lack of CA emission versions...

Purchased my first D-Max diesel on 7/6/04. I live in Austin, TX. I could have easily got one fully loaded with LT package for $38,500.00 + TTL after $4,000 GM loyalty rebate. But, I was dead set on dark grey exterior w/ charcoal leather. After 2 weeks of calling dealererships in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, etc.. I ended up finding what I was looking for in a small town called Lampasas. The only problem was that they would only drop to $39,200 + TTL (MSRP 47,215). So I ended up spending $700.00 dollars more than I wanted. I did not want to take the chance of not being able to locate another one.

....so I'm looking at 37,600 as my best quote for a 2004.5 CC/SB LT D/A with all the toys. Good price? MSRP is 48K

Can you imagine there are people buying vehicles that just pay what the salesman lays down in front of them?

Bought mine june 5. Paid invoice of 39000 plus 4000 in rebates so 35000 compared to the 44000 sticker.

Same thing, except I got mine june 17th, also I got 2 years free maintnence so they pay for my oil changes and such for the first two years or 24000 miles.

Seems you are all very lucky. The rebates (0 % for 60 month) are no longer available. The cash rebate instead dropped to 3.000 $ for the LLY package. Here you are basically lucky to find a truck you like (wrong color, wrong package...) and it seems people starting paying more for those trucks, they are easy to sell for a higher price. The dealership has to "earn" a diesel pickup here, seems Texas is the way to go, they sell a lot of diesels there.
I guess I have waited too long. Don't know whether the 0 % for 60 month will come back soon, it really makes a big difference in price since the interest rate has gone up thanks to Mr. Greenspan. I was thinking I wait for the 2005s but was told it will take forever to get good rebates for them, what do you think?

Purchased a 2004.5 GMC SLE with LLY, XM, etc sticker less $4000.00 rebate and $500.00 GM owner (=$4,500.00). That and he gave me mid retail trade in on my 95 6.5 with manual transmission.

I happy.........

Almost forgot, list was $42,000+………. sticker (I should say base) was $37,000+, and then less the $4,500 and trade in.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gifEdited by: gunman45

My '04 EC, 4x4, Dmax/Ally, LS, chevy was just under 42k sticker, I paid just under 33k, and then they gave me KBB (11k) for my '98 Z71 trade. But could,nt get the 0% finance for the rest, only 3.44%. Got it at end of March and they just happened to have the color and options I wanted. Haven't seen one like it since then, in fact dealers only seem to have one or two dmax's now. This is in SE MI.
