Anyone know of a fluid, commonly (read cheaply) sold at auto parts stores, that is 'approved' for use in the transmission?
Also, how much might the 6 speed hold?
Book says the original fluid is 'good for the life of the transmission'. How long is a 'life'?

NV 5600 holds 4.5L or (9.5pts) My Mopar factory manuals says to use Mopar Manual Transmission Lubricant. (Top Secret)
Redline Oil says that their MTL is good for the NV 5600.
Redline MTL you can buy it through Summits Racing. I have heard that if helps make shifting easier. I also heard that a Dealer will put it in the trany if you buy the Fluid. So more then likely the warrenty will cover it.
Fast Cooler from Genos Garage and Redline MTL is my next move for my hand-shaker.</TD></TR>

Malibu,
"Top Secret" is right on for that factory stuff. I could not crack their code of what it was and the local dealer didn't even have the stuff in stock to sell. Seems it was beyond the outrageous.
Thanks for the tip on Redline MTL and Summits racing. Committed for the next week to running all over and doing a Michigan delivery. Hope to get time for the change after that.

I looked into this extensively. Dodge trans fluid for this transmission is synthetic and is equivelent to 5W-30 motor oil. I use Amsoil series 3000, 5W-30 heavy duty diesel oil in mine and have had no problems. I also use Amsoil universal transmission fluid in my transfer case which reduced drag NOTICIBLY. Hope this helped
