I stopped by the Big Dipper's house today and borrowed the Kennedy Van Aaken 200+ box.....what a nice guy he ishttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif.....whoaa!! what a box.........i run around everyday with the hot juice in level 5 and it runs great............but this box seems to be alot more powerful and very very smooth.......what do u guys think about it........does it stack well with others? .........any dyno or quarter mile numbers, etc.?

About as good at stacking as anything else. Great single box though. It *really* likes injectors too. It's got extremely good, solid power.

Stacking it with anything else won't get you much more than a lot more fuel. Good if you can burn it, but without nitrous we can't do that just yet.

It's got three levels of defuel on the shifts, and it ships with the middle setting. I'm sending mine in to have John put it on the lowest setting as the Suncoast can take it.

Other than that, my only complaint is that it's not quite as snappy as the Edge off the line. The Edge box makes the throttle really touchy and the VA seems to like you to use the throttle a little more. This is all in preference. One against the other, the Edge simply doesn't have the power this one does in an all out WOT run... I'll be keeping the VA as it's the best box I have right now for quite a few different reasons.

It runs 13.5@101 on my truck. I like the way it performs very much as well. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif

sp33d> meaning you are going to have it defuel very little between shifts? what SC trany do you have?

Yes, as little defueling as possible between shifts. I have the full blown suncoast tranny. It was a "Stage V" at when I bought it... Haven't seen it on their site lately though. Maybe they changed the name?

John said the lowest setting is pretty much no defueling at all which should click the shifts in a hurry...

Just to clarify, the defuel is NOT hesitation nor slowing you down during the shift. The STD issue VA/KD 200+ will give the transmission fits for a while. When you go down in power to a lesser box, the trans will snap the shifts and often even chirp the tires. This is just like what happens if you pull off the box and run stock. The trans shifts hard because it is expecting power that isn't there...

but if you train it with the big box it should do better from the start?

http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Evil Smile.gifBetter have the power on order for the weekend of the 17-18 so she gets trained right, better not get it too early though other wise i will use it and my alli will really get pissedhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Nuke.gif

Let me clarify the defuel on this box is not noticeable... The only reason I want it at a minimum is because I like knowing it's all there. This box would fry a stock tranny without a problem. A level 3 would hold it without a problem.

As John stated and as is the case with any power adder, once the tranny gets used to it, it doesn't shift well when you remove it for a bit... That's mostly why I always run full power. The tranny has to learn the addition or removal of power... You won't get the full potential of a box for the first 50-100 miles.

John, out of curiosity, what's the advantage of the lowest defuel level?

Lovin the VA200+. Best drivability I have seen, and great top end power. Havn't seen anything that will stack with it yet, but that is probably going to be a problem with all the bigest boxes.

I agree, the drivability is very impressive...and so is the power.

Better shifts and longer trans component life IMHO. I think that the std program is already beyond what the Allison likes in many cases. Dunno how yours likes it, but mine doesn't...

John, please clarify "beyond what the Allison likes in many cases". Considering what you're talking about, I'm guessing you mean built Allis, but at what level? Are you saying that a full boat SunCoast or ATS is having trouble with it?

And I am still saving pennies for a full ATS with copilot, hopefully by sometime in the fall I'll have it. Till then, it's 90hp Juice for me. I can't imagine better drivability than what I have, and planned on a Hot Juice (or whatever is available at the time) after the trans upgrade. Is this really that much better? If so, can you give specifics? I really don't care to go beyond the 150(ish) and, if the Alli would survive indefinitely at 90-125, I would probably just hang out here, but if I'm doing the trans, I'm doing it right, and I want to reap some extra bene's along with it...

Trans likes the va by itself. Since I always run on the high setting, I never get a quirky shift. It shifts very firm, so you will usually notice the shift in day-to-day driving, but on a WOT run, you almost don't even realize it's shifted. I'm sure this is in part to he programming and in part to the trans, but these two seem to work together really well.
