Can a VVT turbo be added to an LB7? It seems the LLY takes the twins setup better than the LB7......im thinking its the ability to play with the vanes. Am I way off or headed in the right direction with this

why would ya take a PERFECTLY good LB7:rolleyes: and butcher it up by trying to make it a slower LILLY;) :badidea:

The twins do seem to work well with the lly , I think good tuning will make the difference !

GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR AZZ AND GET THAT BD BACK ON WITH THE DUAL CP3  YOU HAVE BEEN AWAY ON THE RIG TO LONG!

Could you take the electronics off of it and use a Wastegate actuator to move the vanes? Low boost the vanes would be directing flow and as the boost raised they would be opened up. Kinda like the old Aerochargers.

I asked Pat.

It will bolt right up, you just need to control the vanes. It flows more air than the IHI charger by alot. You will need an LLY oil drain line, and a way to do the intake. Pat has a couple of unused ones on the shelf.

Thanx Kat
Im assuming the vane controler will come with the turbo?? As far as the intake goes thats Nathans job ):h

Even with good tuning It seems the LLY is better suited for twins....
Im actually staring at the truck right now wondering if I really want to pull the stocker again and install the BD again. The CP3s is in the corner and will go on just not sure what turbo setup Im gonna run with this tme:confused:

no, the turbo is completely controlled by the ECM via a valve and oil pressure. No way to control it without an LLY ECM.

Yes the LLY seem more suited to twins than the LB7. Flows more, percise control over compounded boost, and seems to take the boost pressure from the big charger better ( I',m no expert though). But.... I think you're better off talking to Nathan. Think the're are better options.

Maybe use the BD as the top turbo.

I think a lot of dodge guys use an s300 for the top turbo... The BD may work pretty well. That's a good idea Rob.

I thought of that as well seeing as I allready have it. As far as tuning goes though I would be in the same situation.

As it sits now the stock turbo is sitting on the bench beside the BD..........

Nathan can wastegate both turbo's. Give you something to play with during the long Canadian winter.

If that BD is looking for a new home I might now a guy..........;)

what about the harness and ECM with the turbo from the LB7

The VVT get controlled by the ECU and gives a PWM signal to the controll valve on the turbo. The oilpressure will move then the venes in the right position. If you have a PWM output generator you can control the vene position in the turbo. With a simple voltmeter you can check the position of the venes. Check in the internet, there are some simple PWM output generators plans that you can do your own controller.

so i can bolt it on and then control it with a simple controller

Yes you can do it, it's simple but takes time, god luck :D

Sombody on this board has it in the works. I will let him spill the beans though.
