I am new, so if this has been posted before sorry.

So when you get new tires, bigger then stock, you have to recalibrate the transmision? Is this for shift points, or the odometer? What happens if you do not recalibrate it? Lose the warranty on the transmission?

I was wondering this, because my 245's are pieces of crap stock tires and leak and are wearing out. I am looking into getting some new tires, but did not want to lose the warranty.

Any info please.

Thanks

What you would want to do is recalibrate the speedometer to have an accurate speed reading as well as show the correct miles you are putting on the odometer. This is more of a problem with the larger size tires. One or two sizes bigger usually isnt worth the trouble unless you are absolutely concerned.

Had a set of 255/85/16 BFG MT siped and installed on factory wheels, fit fine with 1.5" of T-bar crank and front valance trim. Tires are about 2.8" taller than stock and speedometer is reading 50mph. While GPS reads 54.6mph. Dealer tried to recalibrate speedo but instead GM kicked back a sheet of paper explaining that GM can not support any reprogramming of any non-factory approved tire sizes. I may purchase a DiabloSport Predator for now and then possibly an edge/juice combo in the future, (after a nice exhaust and air intake).
