My question is, if allison trans are good, why are peoplle adding upgrades?
One last thing, how many miles do you think an allison will last?

I think the Allison trans. probebly is good with motor in stock form but when you push the engine over stock the tranny need upgrades also..Trust me Im going through tranny problems right now

The Allison will be fine behind a stock engine. If you upgrade the engine you will eventually have to upgrade everything behind it. Not just transmisson. Everything is only as strong as the weakest link.

There is nothing designed today by a major manufacturer that can handle twice the power that the original was designed for. They will build in a buffer so that the stock config won't normally damage it, and that is good enough. It costs too much money for them to put in a tranny that could handle 1000 hp and ridiculous amounts of torque when it is designed for stock power levels. Remember, GM tells us that we are not supposed to upgrade our trucks (warranty voiding issues), so there is no need to have a super tranny right from the factory. Pure dollars and cents.

Besides, how could we keep all the vendors on this site going if GM provided it all for us? :)
