I've got a stock 96 Suburban with the 6.5 diesel.

The ABS light is on from start up until I stop hard enough for the ABS to activate. After that, the light is off and the brakes work fine.

Where should I start looking?

Check codes 1st (Autozone, etc.), they will start with a "B" (body) or "C" (chassis).
Post all that are stored please.

The Actron scanner that Autozone sells will not scan ABS. If you were close to me, I would scan it for you.

I would like to know what codes it is throwing...

argh. I should have read this post before I spent 30 minutes waiting for the Parts Monkey to bust out the Actron code reader.


So, am I stuck heading to the dealer to get the codes read?

I might try the local Napa Service Center if I get a chance today.
