Hi all, I just bought a '93 Sierra with the 6.2, and I discovered when I started getting into it, that the genius previous owner decided to remove the entire fuel filter assembly and pipe the fuel feed line right to the injector pump!!! It's all gone. I need to get something back on there of course, and I'd like to know if I should just find another stock setup (and where to get it), or if I should take the opportunity to get a better filtration system, etc. I don't even know what the factory system looks like exactly, all I've seen is some small pics in the service manual. Thanks in advance for any help!!

Welcome to the forum!
The filter setup is box-looking device that mounts on the back of the intake manifold.
I would just buy a stock filter, myself. If you can't get a stock one (they can be difficult to find) you could go with an aftermarket filter, there are some very nice ones on the market.
Hope this helps!

Thanks... what I was saying though is that it's not just the filter that's gone, but the whole assembly where the filter attaches to - with the water separator and fuel heater thing and everything - that's all gone. All that's left is the plugs on the engine harness side where that stuff used to get plugged in.

Yeah, you will have to buy the whole assembly. I would still go with the original style filter.
The original filters were excellent... They not only had a fuel filter, but a water separator and an electric fuel heater along with a switch that turns on a warning light to warn you of fuel system problems.

Ok, I think that's the way to go, just getting a stock setup. Do you think anyone on here has one, it doesn't seem to let me post in the wanted section. I believe it's discontinued from GM, not that it wouldn't cost a fortune from them anyway.....

I think there is one on eBay, or at least there was one a few days ago... I think it is the same filter assembly that was used on the '84-'89 trucks, just mounted in a different place, so if you see one for that year it should work.
I don't know who on here has one, although I am sure someone does...
