not used much with 6.2 so here i am asking will the 6.2 handle a turbo? and are the flywheels interchangable with the 6.5? i can not find a 6.5 short block so got a 6.2 long block for my truck for now unless someone here has a trade ;)

Keep the boost down and it will handle a turbo just fine. The 6.2 has a higher compression ratio than a 6.5, so it can't handle as much boost, but it will take a turbo just fine if you don't boost it too much. ~10-12 psi is about the max... You also want to keep the Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) down to less than 1100-1200 F to avoid melting the piston crowns (they are slightly thinner than the 6.5 piston crowns).

Other than that, you will probably have a hard time telling the difference between the engines...

Hope this helps! :)

The 6.2 can take some boost. I think I have heard people claim 6lb is about all they want.
It is all because of the 6.2's high compresson ratio.
That is why I decided to go with a cold air/ram air intake and some propane instead of a turbo charger that will hardly ever do any thing.

I run the turbo set up on my truck at max 10 lbs boost with no problems exhaust temp never gets over 900F and the water temp never get above 190 F and I have a lead foot it will be fine

If you're building the engine up from scratch I'd suggest a stud girdle to stiffen up the bottom end (whether you're using a 6.2 or a 6.5). I know about the main bearing cracks that can occur without first hand. Might also want to consider a set of dual idler gears instead of a timing chain. That should make the 6.2 more reliable with or without a turbo. Also I wouldn't want to to add a turbo while still using the stock torque to yield head studs. I'd switch to a better head stud ie. ARP.

If your building a fresh 6.2 you may want to consider 18-1 pistons. My 6.2 with turbo makes 10PSI & so far no problems. Sure does run a bunch better than NA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
