: Installed banks, observastions and concerns.
Kdmann64 10-29-2006, 03:20 PM I had my six gun, speed loader and pda installed saturday. The pda is awsome and has a lot of features. It looks pretty cool too. I have to say though the power is not what i thought. I love it once you hit 2200 rpms. but as as being really peppy, its not. the preditor had a lot more peeppyness to it. I think i am going to stack the 40hp tune with the banks. I have been runnning around on level 5 and i like it, i heard that on 6 and the sl levels your tranny is not proteced like 1-5 is this true? Also this weekend i am going to the mountains and towing 4 atvs up there on an open trailer, what level should i tow with? I am excited to use the truck all week and explore more. i'll let you guys know what i think. does anyone haveing driving suggestions or suggestions on power levels. thanks.
Kdmann64 10-29-2006, 03:22 PM O i forgot one thing. i have gotten in my truck twice, once today and once yeasterday and it took several seconds to get my truck to crank, what is the cause of this? did banks do it?
The Neens 10-29-2006, 05:59 PM On the LLY, level 6 has no protection, not sure about the LB7...Try the Predator at 40 HP and the Six Gun at position 2 or 3 and see how you like it...
Terrain Twister 10-30-2006, 12:18 PM I believe if you have the PDA, you have the SL built in. Level 5 and definately 6, will eventually eat the trans unless you have it built. I tow the trailer below in 3, stock trans and (knock on wood) haven't had a problem yet. Usually leave it in 3 all other times unless someone has 'asked' for a smoking. :D
GlenRoseFireFighter 10-30-2006, 12:52 PM the Banks is a safe option for power. If you want the PEP the others provide, you'll need to build your tranny. As far as the starting thing goes, I do not believe it's the Banks at all. Towing, Level 2 or 3.
Kdmann64 10-30-2006, 05:24 PM i think i am going to stack the preditor, should i change any of the shifting options with the pda to protect my tranny? how come the banks doesn't kick in until after 2000 rpm? if you drive like grandpa you would never know it was on the truck.
also what level should i set it on to smoke an 06 f250 edge with attitude?

to smoke an 06 powerstroke the banks wont be enough. the torqshift tranny doesnt have the safety features the allison does so he can go all out where if you go all out youre going to limp the tranny. he may be hurting the tranny but hes going to hurt your feelings first....
Duramaxdude03 10-30-2006, 07:57 PM banks is a safer then stock. when banks kicks in its about 2100 rpm's it defuels so you do not rip the torque converter. when the tranny or torque converter slips the factory is at 5%. on banks its 3% so its a lot safer than stock to me.
MartyK 11-01-2006, 07:49 PM help me out guys, but wouldnt a wastgate actuator help with the pep.. and do you have any other mods like air intake or exaust ????
Kdmann64 11-02-2006, 05:22 PM yes i have both banks intake and exhaust. i want the big head waste gate next, will it help with the pep?
The Neens 11-02-2006, 05:35 PM yes i have both banks intake and exhaust. i want the big head waste gate next, will it help with the pep?
It didn't with mine...The factory wastegate seems to be adequate for the amount of fuel you are going to put to it...You should get something to increase boost...PPE boost increase valve, Kennedy Diesel has one or make one yourself...

Sorry not true, adding power does not add safety. How do you think Banks, or any other power adder for that matter, knows to back the power down? Slippage occurs first, defueling second. Harness boxes act on the existing torque management signals to determine when to defuel.
