I just bought an 06 2500HD Crew Cab LS model. It came with only the dome lights and no overhead console.

Can I install an overhead console in this truck? Second, do I need to do any electrical wiring or is there a power source already in under the head liner.

I've seen several consoles on EBay and they seem fiarly reasonable but I don't want to tear into anything without knowing the extent of the work involved.

No I don't have any overhead console at all. Just a set of dome lights about halfway back to the rear of the headliner, between the front and back seats.

No overhead console?? Is it an 06 or an 07 truck?? I know they were eliminating the sunroof option for 2007, so maybe they figured they could save money and not use a console as well?? Seems very odd to me... what kind of seats do you have?? Possible WT truck??

ok thats a base model deal they dont have a console

the consoles will work but you have to run wires for your map lights you need one tapped from the dome switch and a constant power source

Yeah, I thought it was kind of strange to not have a console as well. It is an LS model with cloth seats.

It didn't have center console or jump seat either. I bought a jump seat off Ebay and put that in.

It was the 2nd to last 06 with the LLY motor in the state. The strange options are probably why it didn't sell. Oh well, I got it for $31,200 so I can't complain too loud. The other truck they has was an LS with power everything except the windows. Strange...

Would you say the wiring is difficult? I have a little electrical experience so I won't kill myself but worry about diggin thru the truck to make it all happen.

I have the little console, where can you get a bigger one from???

I have the basic package as well. I got a small overhead counsel from E-Bay with home link. All the brackets as well as wireing were in my truck. I pulled down the headliner to see where I needed to cut the holes for mounting and I found the wires already up there. Two connections later I was done. Now I have the overhead counsel with map lights, storage, and homelink :ro)
