Im trying to figure out if im the only one who notices problems associated with adding certain HP enhancers - it seems like a lot of people run different set ups and some stacks without any complaints, and maybe im the exception - ive had a chance to run and compare the following, and heres my thoughts:

Quad for LLY ( both stacked with TTS tow tune and unstacked ) - wasnt smooth at all, couldnt count on what it would do at certain rpm levels and how it would respond to standing on it in certain situations. Just didnt feel good and would surge, hiccup and delays.

Bully Dog for LLY ( both stacked with TTS tow tune and unstacked ) - alot of the same thing as the quad box but is noticeably better.

TTS Tow Tune by itself - this is how power should be delivered, very smooth and reliable, i always know what it will do http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif

I havent had a chance to play with the new edge for LLY yet and hope to check that out as well.

So my question to those who might know would be this - is it only possible to add a certain amount of HP before you dont get smooth reliable power - or all these new edge LLY's that much better - as most people dont report any problems even on higher settings ? Or is this just an isolated incident with my truck ? Im just trying to figure all this out and figure out the why in this part - i mean is there not anyone else out there that has found the same thing ???

So far the TTS without a doubt is by far the best tune out there !!! bar none !!!

stacking is not an exact science.........and your a lly frontrunner........Im sure theres big power on the horizon...........along with the lift pump debate.......just keep trying and posting.

It's probably the effect of too much timing. The TTS adds timing, then the other modules up it some more.

thanks daver - i hope more people chime in here with what there thoughts are regarding smooth and reliable power, but who knows. It seems to me that alot of what people are working on will have a big play in adding more of the good power. Hopefully everyone will get it all worked out as they seem critical in any advancements: lift pump, psi, turbo, and maybe injectors, im sure i missed something ? Thanks for everyones hard work and feedback on the other topics, i know its probably hard work and im glad someone is tackling it !!

McRat - i was thinking the same thing !! have you tested the Edge yet and what did you think ?

when u change boxes or stacks are u doing a couple hard runs so the allison learns to adjust for the power? if so, maybe u are experiencing "bursting" or not enough fuel.......i also noticed at the track once with a high horsepower stack (quad 215/edge hot) and low fuel (under 1/4 tank) i had alot of bursting and just let off...........don't know if the low fuel in the tank had anything to do with it

hmmm, so maybe i wasnt running it hard enough for it to readjust perhaps ? if i do run it hard and still feel the same, would that be bursting ? keep in mind that most of these tests were not done with what i would consider high HP additions, the tow tune has 60hp, then if stacking tried the quad on #1 +60, #2 +90, and with the bully dog, #2 +45, and #3 +75... so the highest stack was +150 hp...can anyone tell me if maybe i just needed to run it a little longer and harder to get it settled in ?Edited by: tbone1227

Tbone are you saying your Quad LLY module wasn't completely smooth on the lowest setting? I have had a couple trucks that don't work well on the higher settings but nobody has ever said the power and shifting on the 50hp setting was anything but great. If you had a problem on the lowest setting I would like to talk to you more about it.

well it definitely wasnt dialed in even on the lowest setting, stacked or unstacked...we can definitely chat, let me know

LOL - mike, youre a funny guy !! But you would know exactly what it was doing thats for sure. So Mike, whats your take on all of this in regards to adding power and the different variables and all ?
