Not sure if this is were this belongs. I am wondering if anyone in the cold climate areas has installed a Webasto pre heater. I run them on semis and they work great but not sure how well they work on Duramax. Any suggestions or comments?

I run an espar, what do you want to know?

I'm moving this to the proper forum.

One thing I am wondering is if there are any major differances between the webasto and the Epsar units. Also how hard are they to install? Will there be any problems with my warranty after instal?

I've been told Espar is better but I don't really know. The nice thing about the espar with the external pump is it is really small so it will fit under the air box.

They aren't too difficult to install. The hardest part is the fuel pickup.

There should be no issues with warranty.

while were on the subject of heaters , has anyone got any info from ventech ? that was the one that runs off of the belt system and is supposed to create instant 100 degree heat to either the heater core or the engine coolant, i emailed them the other day but havent heard back.

I've been looking at using an espar on my 6.2. Do you know of any problems related to using these units on the old trucks? Can they get in the way of installing a turbo in the future? How about the timer on it? Does it stop working when it gets to a certain temperature. I'm sure you've experienced it all in Manitoba MaxPower.

There will be no issues with an old truck. In fact it will be easier to install with an old truck. Yes it controls the temperature and will shut down if too hot or run in a lower setting.

That'll be perfect. I'm going to have to run the old girl in Northern Alberta this winter and I won't always have a plug in.

Just make sure you have good batteries.

Just replaced them last winter. Also I haven't even put in the recent rebuild yet. Stud girdle, dual idler gears (no more timing chain), new 30 over pistons, reman heads The works. Now that I spent the money making the engine run reliably I need it to start reliably in the cold. Some people think I'm nuts for spending so much time and money on an old tuck but an all mechanical system is just the ticket for my future round trip drive to south america.

Max, Which model of heater did you add? I'm not sure of the benefits of the differant models, besides the size. Thanks
