<DIV>Was wondering about the control head and where to put it! </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Anyone have one and where did you mount it? </DIV>
<DIV>I hate to go start drilling holes to mount it and then find a "better" place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!</DIV>

I modified the bracket a bit to fit the contours of the dash and mounted mine directly under the coin tray. I'll try to get a picture this weekend for you.

I hung mine under the dash with industrial strength velcro. Its right above my right leg when I'm driving.

Here are two pictures of my install. Being off to the right a little saves my knee cap. There is a metal brace at the bottom of the dash that makes for a very sturdy install. You MUST use shorter screws or you will break into the coin tray! Also note how I bent the bracket to fit the dash better. Sorry for the durty truck....

That hole is a coin tray? All this time I thought it was just a useless hole!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clown.gif It holds a small set of sunglasses fairly well too. I thought the little indentations under the fold down armrest/center seat backrest lid was the coin trays. I would like to find something to cover/fill that hole in the dash or make it a useful pocket for something. I have been considering putting my emergency lighting/siren controls in there.

My brake controller is mounted the same as glclary's.

Gotta be a coin tray. As you can see in the picture it doesn't even hold a pen well..http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

I don't like the controller in front of my knees. I'm a fair size and have knocked the controllers around in other trucks when they are mounted where yours is. Especially with the inertia controllers, this was bad.

I think the only real requirement is that you be able to reach the manual lever and still drive safely.

Fingers, I too was concerned with putting my brake controller in front of my leg as I am not a small person, but I temporarily mounted it there and had no issues with it, so it is now more permanent. I may look into moving eventually. I think that hole is just there because the center console probably goes into it for the buckets and they didn't want to have to mold two different sections for that area. I looked into the drop down cup holders that were in the '01 and '02's in that area, but the hole is different. Maybe that hole needs a little hook installed so you can hang the extra hat there.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif Right now, the spare hat sits on the 4X4 shifter.

I like that controler. Does it take any extra installation or parts over a regular controller?

I put my other brand in place of my ashtray. Fits nicely, out of the knee area, and it is reachable from a normal sitting position.

AK,

It has one more piece than the inertia controllers, a pressure sensor. The install was very easy. Hardest part is deciding where to put the box.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

<DIV>Well I just realized that I hadn't reported back on how my Brakesmart install went,sooooooo-</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>As others have said that the instructions were excellent and it took me maybe a hour or so to get it in and all done .</DIV>
<DIV>I ended up putting it under the "coin tray" (thanks Fingers) or whatever that hole is supposed to be and it will work well there.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Now all I need is a trailer and I'm ready.&lt;g&gt;</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>thanks everyone for the info and help.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif</DIV>
