I'm using NavTool as my video converter which has two inputs input 1 for the DVD player and Input 2 for the cam. There is a toggle switch that is supposed to force input 2 (cam) to come on whenever i use the switch. But when i flick the switch all it does is force input 1 the DVD player to come on.
When i put it in reverse the cam comes on no problem

Any Ideas?

Any Ideas? The toggle switch is supposed to switch in Video input 1 not 2. The only way to activate the video 2 input is with the reverse signal. If you want manual control of the video 2 input, you need to add a switch to put 12 volts to the reverse input of the navtool. Be sure to use diodes so your toggle switch doesn't turn on the backup lights.

And don't forget you have to power the camera too with your extra switch otherwise you wont have any video signal to see.

ok thanks for the replys. I do have accessory 12v power going to the camera, so its not getting power from the reverse lights. Its just using the revers power as a switch to make it come one when in reverse.

So your camera is working normally. When you put into reverse the camera and the NAV screen switch to on, and you can see behind you.

Do you also want to turn it on manually with out having to put it in reverse ? Or is it working the way you want it to ?

You got it. I want the camera to come on when i use the switch. Right now the cam only comes on when i put it in reverse

You'll need to get a switch and a relay. have the switch trigger the relay to turn on the Reverse Camera AND the nav video converter when you need it.

Where ever your getting your reverse light input + from, run it to the relay too so when you put it in reverse it will still work correctly, and install a diode between the reverse input + and the relay so that when you use the manual switch you won't power up your reverse lights also.
