We need to make up a guide to help the newbs like me tune, for example

Slow acceleration - raise main inj. Pulse
White smoke - advance or retard timing

Those are pretty basic but hopefully you guys get my point, so if any of you brainiacs could post some "ropes" to tuning I think itd be an awesome helpful sticky for people to learn efi live, just my .02

Thanks guys

Here is a thread with some usefull information to get you started: http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=110339

Last week we created a Tips & Tricks thread to help users new and old.

The purpose of this was to provide a quick summary of all the important information to get new users started, assist with trouble shooting, and to provide links to threads that members found to be of great benefit.

We are going to continue to add to this thread over time. Although within our existing thread there is no info on how to build a smoke tune, we can easily add it. I recall a good smoke tune thread from the last couple of weeks, so it shouldn't take long to find and add. The main injector pluse information (McRat 20-20 tow tune) is contained in the thread. Click on the below, have a read

http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=109520

Feel free to ask for anything else to be added to the sticky - this isn't "MY" thread - it's an EFILive users thread with one person maintaining it so it's orderly.

Cheers
Cindy

Duramaxs don't smoke like other diesel trucks.

The 20-20 tune is a 50 RWHP increase for a LLY...It adds 10 PSI of boost...With a modified LB7 version and no boost increase device, you're probably adding the same 50 HP...I don't know what the level 5 Juice puts out exactly, but I'm guessing over 100 HP...Send me a PM if you would like some help...Chris

Unless the Operating Systems are the same, you have to copy and paste all the modified tables that you want to use...Kinda of a pain at first, but it's easy after you've done it a few times...

You will need to open up 2 (I prefer 3 windows!) windows of EFILive tuning software to modify the tables in your operating system to what the other tune has.
I open up 3 windows so as one will show the history, (I keep this one open to the history, so I don't have to keep going back to it.) one is the one with my operating system, and the 3rd is the one that I go to the tables to get the information needed to change mine.

Someday EFI will allow different operating systems to be opened in the same window, this will allow for much easier changes over different operating systems.

yep what he said
if the tune is the same op system its nice then you can use the compare

alt-tab switches between open files control c to copy
control v to paste
there is lots of info in the EFI manuals they sure help
lots of info here to
and using google search i have read lots of articles
pertaining to tuning diesels that help shed some light:grd:

and what duramaxes dont smoke:confused:

ummm, yeah they do. :ro) Mine does anyways. Check out my vids.

I suppose I should have clarified that a little. A 400hp Dmax, under little load, i.e. drag racing, don't smoke a whole lot, if compared to, let's say, a 400 horse 7.3 PS or 12-valve Cummins. Those will smoke like a train, you can black-out several lanes of traffic getting on the highway.

But put a Dmax under a load, like a sled, and yeah, they'll smoke.

Sorry for the thread hijack.
