I was talking to some Ford owners over the weekend and they ask me if I had been checking my S.C.A.

I have never heard of it before. It is some kind of Supplementry Coolant Additive that all diesels need they say.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

Any one here ever hear of it and do we need to check this on our Duramax?

I think this is unique to the Ford 7.3 Powerstroke. They have a cavitation/corrosion problem in the heads, this additive deals with it.

I had a PSD and it required periodic SCA checks with dipstick and color chart comparision. I had a Dodge with Cummins power and it did not require the additive. I was told by the Navistar dealer that this is an anti cavitation additive for wet sleeve motors. SCA is added to prevent corrosion between the dissimilar metals of the block and piston sleeves (acc to Intl. dealer).
