Hi,
what would you recommend as a good lift pump replacement? The pump should be able to deal with both Diesel and with SVO, and/or a blend of it.
Are the pumps from Holley any good for such an application?

IIRC SVO needs to be heated, what I'd do is put on a prefilter RACOR say 660 Racor 20 micron, with heat element in it's base and put a temp probe on it to monitor temp of SVO maybe thermostat to control the heating element before a GM stock lift pump, aftermarket lift pumps can provide too much pressure, the factory liftpump to the IP is 4-6 psi @ 15 gph more than that will just be going back to the tank anyway.
From what I've read non-heated SVO can leave you looking for a ride home especially in winter, also it will cleanse dirt/rust from your tank, hence need to prefilt before any lift pump.Edited by: Turbine Doc
Hm, what do you think about http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/ProdLine/Products/FMS/FMSFP/12-801-1.html?
This pump seems to flow more than enough fuel in the acceptable pressure range. They recommend it on greasel.com.
A heated filter like the Racor would be nice, but it would be better to use something that is easily available here in Germany. And $38 for a replacement filter element is not actually cheap, let aside the pricy filter ...
I'm not sure with what setup I'll end up with. It might be easier to blend the Diesel with SVO in the standard tank, so the replacement pump would probably go where the stock lift pump is mounted, plus an extra filter in the line just before the pump. The extra filter would keep the dirt from the tank off the lift pump, and it would use cheap replacement elements.
Anonther option would be running on unblended SVO from a seperate tank (150--300 liters) mounted in the trunk. Heating will be required for that, eventually using a heat exchanger that takes heat from the coolant water once the water has warmed up.
