If the lift makes the engine difficult to work on. Warranty time is already low enough without making it harder to do.

I took my truck back in due to overheating after replacing 2 thermostats and they told me this time that they found it is a blown head gasket but will not cover it due to the lift. They said they got a chevy regional rep. out and he is the one who denied it.

That would sum it up refuse to work on truck but not deny warranty coverage unless it was brake, suspension and possible drive ability depending on tire you were running.

Best to have a good relationship with your servicing dealer.

Blown head gasket and a lift are unrelated. Doesn't sound right.

i agree. lift has nothing to do with a head gasket. the lift would void all warrenties dealing with the suspension and anything else related. not the motor.

Are they revoking your waranty? If so, that is actionable according to the Magnusson-Moss act.

Best bet is to seek another dealer.

I dont see the regional rep saying that. Sounds like the dealer talking smack.

If you want I can run your vin and see if you have any block showing.

I took yawl’s advice and called another dealer I know. He made some phone calls and said the area GM rep was aware of my truck and the warranty is voided. I have 12-14 inch lift with 40 inch tires. Can they void my motor warranty because of this? According to the Magnusson-Moss act they can't unless they can prove that caused the head gasket failure and I think that would be hard to do since these trucks are made to haul heavy loads.

Who do I call? If now I have a warranty block nobody will touch it. I called the chevy customber assistance center, but they were no help they are just a third party who doesn't have much say-so.

Gave up with the dealers and bought the head gaskets from Merchant Automotive and the head studs from So Cal diesel. Me and my buddy (ex-ford diesel tech) will try to put them on. I know that the ARP studs come with tork specs. but what about replacing the rocker arms? It was easy on my 350 with hydraulic lifters just get it close and they will work. Is the Duramax a solid lift or what? Any advice would help along with anything else to look for while swapping out the head gaskets.
Thanks, Vince

Thanks Eric got my conformation by e-mail.
As for Jeff my friend that I mentioned use to do side jobs for him on fords when Jeff was overloaded. Jeff seemed to think My buddy and me would have no problems doing the job just time consuming. 3100.00 was Jeff's price.

i think this is a bunch of crap. there is no way that lift caused the gasket failure. sounds like the gm rep is being a D**K. thats why its nice to have a good relation with your dealer. sometimes they can bend the rules for you.
