If they make a 2 inch longer shock, then yes. If not you should install some "shock extenders". If I remember correctly they make a longer shock for the front but not for the rear. Go figure.

And welcome to the Diesel Place! When you get a chance make up a signiture with your truck info.

Went to the Off-Road Expo in Pomona and talked to the Bilstein guys and this is what they gave me: For a 2500/3500, 99 and up, lifted 0" to 2.5" in the front, shock # BE5-D146-HO, MSRP of $84.95 and 0" to 1" in the rear, shock # BE5-D147-HO, MSRP of $84.95 is what you need. This info is effective 09/2006 and should be on the shelves in November.

You are welcome. :ro)

u can usually go a 1"-1.5" without having to worry. but it probably wont be perfectly level. but it usually depends on the vehicle. stock its usually 2" sometimes alitte more off.

they make shock mounts that replace the factory ones that will allow stock shocks to work.

i had the torsion bars MAXED OUT on my 02 z-71. it almost leveled the truck out by increasing the front hieght by 1.5" - 2". not ness to replace shocks , just made the truck ride a little stiffer up front. an alignment is needed to correct the caster and chamber due to the adjustment. i did not do it just because, i did it to increase the snowplow carry hieght and load capacity. hope this gives some help!! good luck

So I can adjust the bars a little, and not get shocks yet. Will this eliminate the bumps sounds from the front end? I hear something bumping up front when I hit the little bumps.

You can run up to about 2" and a spacer or a relocated mount. reagrdless, you'll wear out the factory shocks within 12,000 miles. They are junk....................

 why dont they use good bilsteins like my old ZR2 s10 had? The shocks on my old Z-71 were gas charged too i belive.

I would buy the shock extenders, they dont seem to be pricey and keep your stock shocks...

what i wish they had for the hds is a z71 package. my 03 z71 had edelbrocks stock, not a horrible shock but theres definitly better ones out there and better than the ones stock on my hd. beleive the 07.5s have a z71 package option though.
but how many inches is the spacer? couldnt u use some washers for a small amount? i ges it would be limited to some amount becuase of the length of the threaded stud at the top.

The shock spacer is at the bottom of the shock I believe.

i took my torsion bars up 7 turns and left the stock shocks, they dont bottom out or over extend. Matter of fact the pic in my sig was the day i did it, i took the truck up a dirt hill and maxed the suspesion flex out to where the left rear was hanging. No over extending or bottoming out.

I just installed some Bilsteins stock rear, 2" extended fronts from DPS. The front torsion bars are cranked. The ride with the stock shocks (one in the rear was broken) was very rough on the SoCal roads and freeways. With the Bilsteins, the ride is much better...I don't feel so much of the road anymore.

i also got a 97 z71 and i maxed the t-bars up and left the stock shocks and mounts and got 15,000 miles on the set up, it is a little stiff, but if you hit a speed bump it would jar your teeth...but on my d-max i put a cognito levlin kit b/c i didnt wont a 30,000 doller truck to ride to ruff!

I know when I had my 04, i just had cranked torsions , no differenet shocks or anything.. well I just got a new 07 and the dealer already did the key way and the new shock mounts on it and the 285 tires...looks so much nicer.. it also rides nicer than the 04 did with the setup i had on it.

I wasnt sure what they did with the shock mounts , because i believe back in 04 they did make the bigger mounts.. I looked at mine then checked the stocks ones out on a truck at the dealer, they are at least double the height. Just went out to measure the aftermarket shock extenders look to be about 3 1/2 inches high, the factory from what I remember I would guess inch and half or so..

im not sure where you get the shock extensions, the dealer put them on... I have seen them on some offroad websites though..do some searching on here or do a post asking..seems to me they were around 30 bucks..
