'I've been away from the 4M for a while, not sure if this has come up before or not. A friend, also a D/A owner, said he heard from someone at the dealer the Allison is going to be replaced with a Mitsubishi tranny in the next year or two. WTFO??

Wonder why they would want to replace the best tranny on the market? I sure hope not.

Haven't heard that part, but Allison is coming out with or they are supposed to be out now, a whole new line of transmissions for light and medium duty applications.

They're called the Vocational Series IIRC, with one for public safety, fleet, light truck, etc.

The Allison site has some info on these and the torque ratings are about twice what our transmissions are. Can't remember the HP ratings, but they're up as well.

Last rumor I saw posted about this is that they MAY be available in GM pickups next year, but probably '06.

I don't think they would do that since Allison is a part of GM. But these days, who knows.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif Edited by: DieselDave

In that DC and Mitsubishi have a partnership, perhaps that was intended to be Dodge? We know how rumors can evolve into something unrelated.

I know there have been some news reports of Allison closing some plants here in Indy. But the news reports made it sound like it was just related to lack of demand for the transmissions that go into the tanks.

If the Alli goes I'll be joining Hoot.

If the alli goes id join hoot too, i dont know why they would get rid of that since it is one of their major selling points, i think a lot of people would agree with me when i say that the allison was the deciding factor between chevy or a dodge.

I think I heard that dodge will be using allison but, it will be called something else. Dunno if this is true.
