I have an LLY with a bully dog and a 4in cat back system installed.
When I put the Aem intake on the exhaust temps went up an it smokes alot more.
Is this normal for aftermarket intakes?

jerryc23,

The Dodge guys aree seeing the same results, seems it is a dry non oiled no maintenance filter but it is resitrictive too!

I have the same system, the filter indicator is always pegged. I called AEM and they said it was from the increased air flow, which I thought was b/s! I have the older oiled filter.

So If I go buy a K&N to put on it the brute force will perform better?

just run an experiment and take it off for a short blast----be sure there is no debris to be sucked into the motor -------then you will know

I sure don't notice any difference with mine other than a faster spool up.

No smoke, EGT's are the same or maybe lower and it sucks in the filter minder.

Turbo sure sounds good though.

The diameter of the system is smaller than stock and most of the competitors. Mine has sucked the meter since day one. I also run into MAF(smaller diameter=higher velocity) codes occasionaly. That being said I still will keep it. I don't recommend taking the filter off and trying it, if something larger were to get sucked in and make contact with the turbine you will have problems.
