Are the new generation 3/4 and 1 ton pickups going to have a solid front axle, or are they still using the IFS?

I drove a 2500HD and 3500 from detroit to ohio. This are the new 900HD'S and they had coil overs in the front. But when they debuted them they had the IFS as the classic 07's.

The front suspension for all Silverado and Sierra heavy-duty models uses an independent short-long arm ( SLA ) design with torsion bars.

Thats somewhat good in a way, that they keep the same torsion bar setup as what was previously used on the 06 HD models.

The torsion bar setup should hopefully be the same setup that will work with all the suspension lifts that are currently on the market for the 06 trucks.

Im wondering whether or not suspension lift kits like the CST (California Super Trucks) 9-11" will work on the new body 2007 trucks?

but why?? There is no current GM literature that says anything about coil overs. If they were gonna do coil overs on the 900's, the 900's that are already in existance would have coil overs.

Maybe ill be eating my words come january, but I strongly strongly beleive torsion bars are here to stay...

I sure don't know why some guys want to go back to the solid axle. After 700,000 miles on two GM diesel pickups (a 6.2 and a duramax) with normal maintenance repair issues the design held up far better than the solid axle on my 85 k 10 6.2.
I don't know if there would be advantages to going coil over , but if what they are currently using works, with few warrantee issues why change it ?

My local dealer has a GMC 2007 "900" crew cab z 71. Sharp Truck, although the dash is too "infinity/Lexus" for my taste. It had coils in the front end, and there was a blank window sticker , so I couldn't tell much about it other than it was loaded (leather, console, sunroof etc.) I assume it was a half ton 4x4 , but I'm not sure because I am hearing that the z 71 is no longer only on the 4x4s.
