: problems?-edge and quad 215
moss022 07-01-2004, 06:02 PM i have the newest verson of both, 3.81 on the edge with a 1.4 on the attitude. version 1.21 on the quad 215. the quad being about 3-4 weeks old. the first pull i did everything was fine, no problems. since then i have put the quad in a friends 01, then put it back in my 02 and noticed that my tranny relearn was gone. went into it a different time, its back. raced some cars this last weekend and it didnt run good at all. it seems like it hits a revlimiter the way it cut power and reapplys it. its like someone has a switch that can turn my power on and off at will. ran 4 times like that. turned the attituded to no defuel at shifts and it worked fine. had another truck pull last night and it did it again, but i didnt change the defuel part, its was at defuel the 4-5 shift. has anyone had or heard of this kind of problem, or not have luck with this stack. i know it works because i have had it run 2 seperate times now? need help soon, more truck pulls sat and sun.
WI Huck 07-01-2004, 06:59 PM I have run that stack with success on the dyno, but not on the street / track. It seems that the problem has been referred to as “Bursting”. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif Set the Edge to level three and adjust the low boost fuel “smoke” to the middle. That is what worked for me. Enjoy the smoke! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif

moss022 07-01-2004, 08:27 PM when i was at union grove i had everything turned up but didnt have any fuel pumps then. it didnt "burst" at all. would i get more power if i could get an older 215 and leave everything up? i have heard the old ones work good with the edge.

Are you feeling OK my good buddy ?? Gawd I hope so ...

Amric 07-01-2004, 10:10 PM You are bursting. It happens to me too when I stack the 215. For me it only happend out of the hole, or when making a sudden jump to WOT. If I'm already going down the highway at 80mph, and go WOT, then it pulls like a freight train well into the tripple digits. If I jump on it from a light, it bursts like mad.
I don't have an Edge, but since my Quad only bursts out of the hole, if I did have an Edge, I would try setting low boost fueling to the lowest level and see what happens. If that didn't work, I would try keeping the Edge on 5, and one level at a time drop down the Quad and see if any of the lower tunes solves the problem.
Let us know if you have any luck.Edited by: Amric

DAVER, ARE YOU "SLIPPING" IN YOUR OLD AGE OR WHAT? THIS IS ONE OF YOUR MORE CALM POSTS ABOUT A QUAD TUNERhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif
CPMac 07-01-2004, 11:50 PM I have had different setups go to a partial engine limp then come out of it quickly and cause similar problems. It is not bursting it just tries to 2000rpm limp then comes right out of it. I have broke lots of parts pulling when that happens. What works on a dynojet or on the street doesn't neccesarily work on the pulling track.
moss022 07-02-2004, 06:42 PM i thought it was the rev limiter as well, because when i raced i hit 4000rpm. then when i pulled it only went to 3600. last night when i was tring to figure out whats going on, it does it with not much throttle. went all the way down to level 110 on the quad and 5 on the juice and still did it. didnt try anything after that yet. on my quad, the sticker on the back says 215, 165, 135, and 110, but it goes 215, 135, 110, 110. anyone else like that???? with the old quad 215-version 1.10???? doesnt that stack good with the juice.?
moss022 07-05-2004, 03:20 PM thanks for the info wi huck. i took 1st in wyoming, il on sat while being 500lbs light. i had set my low boost to one because i was going to try to get it to level four but i chickened out. so i had it at level 3 and low boost on 1, the quad was on full and the d-mizer was off, need more time to go and test what will work. this may take a while, got a tranny coming in the next few days and i need to start taking the stock one out. i shall keep you guys posted to what i find out
Hemikiller 07-07-2004, 09:16 PM sounds like your tranny has been slipped too many timeshttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif.....i would never have attempted this combo on a stock tranny...........here's a dumb question for ya but just checking........if you are not in level 5 on the hot juice then you don't have the egt limiter disabled and that will definitely give you the on and off feeling because that's exactly what the box is doing..........set the "backdown" on the attitude as one of your gauges and watch to see if it is backing down.
moss022 07-07-2004, 09:57 PM when i was doing this at that time, i had the back down disabled. you dont have to hit a hi rpm to get it to do this.
WI Huck 07-08-2004, 08:18 PM You will defiantly see an improvement with a good transmission! Keep us posted on what is working for you.
gmccall 07-09-2004, 08:30 AM Moss022,
I run the same stack. Each time you change boxes out or switch power levels your tranny has to relearn. Takes drive time. You probably have read this by now, but worth repeating.
I have not found the ideal setting for this combo. I can say the "street manners" of the Quad Stealth 215 is a little touchy with the throttle.
padsave30 07-09-2004, 11:18 PM hey guys, I was just wondering if it is safe to stack wiht quadzilla 215 hp and edge/attitude, and I will have suncoast stage 3 transmission kit
thanks, jack

padsave30 07-10-2004, 03:29 AM is it possible to run edge w/attitude along with MBRP exhaust, afe stage 2 intake, before installin trany kit, and would anyone recomend other things to add power or websites.
thanks
jack
Hemikiller 07-10-2004, 09:14 AM padsave30....that would be a great setup for a stock tranny....i probably wouldn't get the "hot" version though because level 5 will definitely slip your trans if it is not built........the regular version of edge juice/attitude is 125 hp on the highest level.......it will make a world of difference........just don't do any powerbrakes or burnouts for your friends as that will destroy your trans....
padsave30 07-10-2004, 10:14 AM do the chips or tranny kits void the warranty?

gmccall 07-12-2004, 08:30 AM OKAY I have an update for this stack.
Last Saturday night I took the ole duramax out for a friendly car club meeting at the local track. I saw also that a diesel truck meet was scheduled as well. Great I think, should be a great time.
IT WAS http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif
I took first place in my car clubs bracket runs with a new best time of 8.55 at 80 mph 1/8th mile and 1.88 60ft. Truck was getting quicker thru the night. Now for the record. This time was turned with QUAD 215 only. I tried running Quad on 110 and Attitude on 5. ET was 8.80s at 78mph. I decided to see what Quad 215 by itself would do and so there is my experience.
Now for the record I did not try to add Attitude to Quad for the reason I was running for a "little money" and did not want to break out of my dial in. I ran within 0.07 s in all elimination runs dialed in at 8.60 and only broke out the last run. HOWEVER my opponet red lighted. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif I should have known the truck was running better as the run before I hit the brakes hard before the finish (already ahead) and still turned 8.66.
Took it all that night http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Evil Smile.gif

moss022 07-18-2004, 07:23 PM i had a truck pull today(sunday the 18th) i was hoping to repeat the same thing i did when i first pulled at union grove, but it didnt work. i tried to get out of the hole as slow and easy as possiable but no luck. i ended up turning the edge all the way off and only got second. this truck has so much more its not funny. however it didnt do it as bad as when it first started happening. half tempted to sell the quad and get the next biggest tuner. i dont know what to do. whats the point of having all these programers if i cant turn them on all the way.
sdaver 07-18-2004, 11:05 PM lift pump time.........
Moss022,When your pullin are you in low range or HI?When did this start after the quad 215 ?Are you running any sort of lift pump?
moss022 07-19-2004, 06:45 PM i have 2 lift pumps running parallel. this never happened untill i got the quad. i had run the d-mizer + the edge with attitude + 120hp predator. no problems there, made 430 hp at the rear wheels too!! i do have a tranny coming but they had to wait for a core to come in and are just now building it. when i pull i do it in low in 3rd with the tow/haul on.
so what are you guys thinking now???
still havent heard if the old version of the quad 215 would stack better than the new one???
moss022 07-25-2004, 03:37 PM friday night (july23) i ran the following way. low boost 1, power level 4, and the quad at 215. no d-mizer. when i got rolling at about the 100ft mark i top the attitude to 5. i rolled out of the hole real slow. eased into the peddel. i got 2nd, 1st had no2. no bursting what so ever. now i am going to slowly step up the low boost until it does it again. wi huck, if i could get you to try it that way and let me know if there is any power difference in the way you told me to set it up. i haven had it that way yet since i know that one works for sure!!!
WI Huck 07-26-2004, 11:21 AM I ran again this last weekend. My Holley “Black” pump died on me earlier in the week, so I installed the Stanadyne FM 100 with no regulator. I changed the place where my fuel PSI gauge is reading. It is spliced into the line coming out of the factory filter going into the computer box for cooling. I tried some runs on the street and could not pull the PSI down below 4. It normally runs at 6 PSI. Back to the stack. I still had bursting with the Edge on 4 and 5. I ran the Edge on level 3 with the low boost in the middle at the pulls and had no problems. I did not think of changing the levels during the pull. The bad thing about pulling is that you only get one try. That does not leave much opportunity for testing. My method of pulling is to get the sled rolling and then stand on it. The engine is roaring, the dirt is flying. It is lots of fun leaving the sled completely covered in smoke due to the dual exhaust. I took third behind two Dodge boys.
