McRat 07-01-2004, 02:05 PM THANKS!!!
Mark Craig 07-02-2004, 02:10 PM Terrain Twister,
Afternoon I have been looking for a "Guinea Pig" fo a similiar product, if you or anyone else here is game let me know.
Requirements are:
I supply the cut out.
You supply the truck with stock exhaust
You install it and make a before and after dyno run and tell me if the manufacturers claim is anywhere near what they claim. We'll help you with the dyno cost. You get the part for free. This unit we are wanting to test is retailed at $460.00
They are claiming 10% HP and 9% torque gains, and some MPG inprovement as well. The cut out is sitting here just waiting for an experiminter to take advantage of the situation etc.
Mark @ DPPI
Powell 07-02-2004, 08:21 PM Ill test it. I have access to quiet a few dynos so dyno cost doesnt bother me, but $460 is way to much.
Terrain Twister 07-02-2004, 08:23 PM Mark, you have a PM.
IBDMAX'IN 07-03-2004, 03:18 AM Thanks for the info http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Thumbs Up.gif
Mark Craig 07-06-2004, 08:55 AM Powell,
I agree with you 1000%, 460.00 is kind of crazy. But if it works we can always deal on getting the price right, if it tests as a flop then it won't matter etc.
Mark @ DPPI
House 07-07-2004, 12:13 AM the need a 5 inch cut out!
ghettosled 07-07-2004, 02:46 AM The DMH units are nice and reasonably priced.. We typically stock several sizes of their product line. You will also need the "y" cutout in order to install it. I havent tried it on the diesel yet, but on all the turbo gas stuff it works extrememly well if bypassing a catalitic converter..
Texas Red Wagon 07-07-2004, 08:54 PM I have been looking at them myself. A friend of mine put one on his dodge. We have not dynoed or track tested yet. seems to loose bottem end power but feels stronger on the big end.

Chevy_Power 07-07-2004, 10:26 PM Why bother with an exhaust cutout when you can just straight pipe the whole thing to begin with.
WillowCreekStable 07-08-2004, 09:07 AM I drive 100 miles a day, the ability to have a quiet cruise and still be able to uncork it when I want would be handy.
I ended up buying the wife a new truck 'cause she hated the 4" exhaust rumble after I put it on.
baimpala 07-08-2004, 04:04 PM I'd be worried about opening it up and then never shutting it again! Heck, just unbolt the thing from the downpipe and let 'er rip; save yourself 200 bones and 100 pounds!
Seriously, the DMH unit looks pretty nice. I wonder about the reliability of the actuator motor and about cleaning the soot out from under the truck.

BMDMAX 07-08-2004, 04:36 PM Ho-Lee Sheeaut we would have the market cornered on the new fancy diesel soot undercoating! Any idea if it will stop rust? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif
McRat 07-08-2004, 05:09 PM A strange thought...
Get 2 cutouts. One electric, one standard. Put one before the muffler, and one after the muffler pointed towards each other, and connect with pipe.
When you hit the cutout, it will bypass the muffler, yet the smoke will go out the tailpipe. Then rig it to a solenoid so it will open either manually or when the EGT's exceed 1300.Edited by: McRat
McRat 07-08-2004, 05:10 PM Errr... You would only need ONE electric and one "standard" cutout.
J M B 07-10-2004, 07:24 PM I'm with Chevy_Power, straight 4" from front to back. The sound is awesome. Not that bad with the windows up. It's best with all windows down and down-town around all the buildings, the sound is really amplified. Sounds mean...
I also pull a 4500# trailor daily average 90 miles
65turboman 07-11-2004, 09:16 PM Here is another cutout maker.
