I drive a Chev Silverado 2500HD with the stock Bridgestone tires. Does anyone have a recommendation on the minimum tire pressure I can use to safely drive on dirt roads with no tow and no load?

Depends - on speed, material the road consists of, weight of your truck, and for how long, etc. Load range E can be run almost flat at slow speeds on sandy or smooth roads - ie, running sand dunes and beaches. You need enough air to keep the tire beaded on the rim (especially when turning sharp). You also want to make sure the tire is not crimping the casing which will cause the casing to crack or break eventually. On rocky roads, etc, where tires are subject to heavy impact or sharp edges, you want more air. On normal well packed dirt roads, you can run around 30 lbs on a 245 E to get a softer ride and better grip. On sand, I have run as low as 10lbs. Big issue - don't forget to air back up when you hit pavement

I run on dirt roads quite often. I run the same pressure as on the pavement. I haven't broken one or felt out of control at speeds up to 55. Later! Frank

I recently got stuck in the mud so I investigated recovery tools and off roading techniques. the guy at 4 wheel parts and one at Bullhide suggested 10 to 15 psi going slowly and carefully. Just make sure you have an air compressor with you to up your pressure when you get back to the road . . .

Lower pressures will give you a much more comfortable ride on the dirt as well as give you increased traction. 15-20 psi should be a good zone to be in, as this should prevent you from blowing a bead. My Dmax never sees any dirt, but I typically air my jeep down to about 4 psi for the rocks.
