I know there has been alot of duscussion about gears, but here's my question: I have 36" IROKS right now and although i have a pretty strong tune with EFI, its still not what i want. I am thinking about getting some 4.10 gears to get it closer to how it was before the big tires. Question is, with the 4.10's, if i put on my 285's or 305's for racing will it haul a$$, or will the gears be to low in the 1/4 mile for the top end. I know there are calculators for tire/gear size, but with the dmax/alli you cant really go by what they say. I know they say for "back to factory" ratio i would need like 4.88s or 5.13s but i know that would be rediculous on topspeed and milage.

Also, if i bought the correct backlash guages etc...; anyone know a good manual on how to install and alighn them correctly. Im all about saving money and doing things myself. I figure if i can re-build my allison, gears will not be a problem.
