If you have removed the vacuum pump and didn't replace the long bolt, you should get one as soon as possible.
I removed mine yesterday and didn't put it back because I thought that it was only for the vacuum pump. Today my AC compressor fell off while driving and broke at least one bolt off in the head. I think my belt tensioner might be bad and caused it to get extra tight speeding it up.
I was able to get home by borrowing a different bolt and using a socket for a spacer. (can't be too picky at the side of the road and it is almost dark (9:30 pm) and 30+ miles from home)

The long bolt? What year 6.5 are you talking about? Coincidentally, I just pulled my vacuum pump off last night. I removed three long bolts (~5" long) to move the compressor out of the way, and then removed three short bolts (~1-1/2" long) that held the vacuum pump in place. Yanked that sucker outta there, and then put the three long bolts for the compressor back in their place.
All three of the long bolts for the compressor were the same length. Edited by: w_huisman

Mine is a 95.
Do you have the newer style compressor? Mine has the thin round one, not the one about the size of a coffee can like 96+.
I had to remove 3 long bolts and 2 nuts. (they might be studs and come out with the nuts sometimes) One of the three long bolts wend through the thick part of the vacuum pump bracket so I just figured that was all it did.

My compressor is about the diameter of a coffee can, but only about 1/3 as tall as a coffee can.
I didn't remove any nuts. Just 3 big bolts on the compressor, and 3 small bolts on the vacuum pump. That's it. No more, no less.
Maybe the studs you are talking about are mounting studs for the compressor bracket. I didn't touch those.

Hey Whatnot. Just curious....what size belt did you end up using after you pulled your pump?
I don't know how long my stock one was, but I ended up using a 2555 (length of belt in mm). I tried a 2515 (about a 1/2in shorter), but I just couldn't quite get it to fit on there.

w_huisman: what is that 2555mm supposed to go on?
i thought that a belt off of a 93 will fit on a 6.5 without the vac pump.

That's what I thought too, but when I got home with the belt for a 93 it turned out to be the same length as the one I just took out of my 95. So when I brought it back, the parts guy gave me about 3 different sized belts to try and I ended up using a 6-rib 2555. Not sure what vehicle it's for.
