: Excessive H2O from Condensor
MaxFarmer 06-30-2004, 12:06 AM I've noticed the last couple of weeks that after I shut my truck off there is a lot of water coming off my condensor. It leaves a really good puddle/runoff. I know A/C's give off some water, but this seems excessive, and I thik I would have noticed it doing this earlier if it was a normal thing. Any ideas?

MaxFarmer 06-30-2004, 09:08 AM That was my guess, but it seems like there is a lot more than there ever was last year....I must be getting a little too paranoid. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Geek.gif

It should be obvious. You ARE talking about your Duramax, right?
RUMAXED 06-30-2004, 07:24 PM Not To Be A Wise Ass But The Condenser DOES NOW SWEAT !!
THe Water Is Coming From The Suction Line And Evaporator

a64pilot 07-06-2004, 08:36 AM If the evaporator is freezing up, maybe due to a clogged filter or low refrigerant, then there will be an abnormal amount of water after the truck is shut down and the ice melts.
MaxFarmer 07-06-2004, 09:33 AM The evaporator has quite a bit of frost on it, as do the lines coming from the compressor to the evaporator. Thats where all the H20 is coming from, the frost melting. Is the filter something I can check? I can add refrigerant if need be as well.
Thanks again,
Jason
tysmith 07-06-2004, 04:58 PM Icing is indicative of low levels of freon... Might be worth throwing a set of gauges on and checking...
Frank Blum 07-06-2004, 09:29 PM MaxFarmer, sounds normal to me. Mine leaves a big puddle on the garage floor and the humidity rarely gets to 40%. Try running in the recirculate next time to see if that changes the size of the puddle. Later! Frank
TEXMudder 07-06-2004, 10:39 PM Out of the last 10 or so vehcles the wife and I have owned, this one leaves a bigger puddle then all of them combined.
MaxFarmer 07-06-2004, 11:04 PM Okay thanks. I guess I wont get too excited about it then. I'll have my mechanic take a look at the freeon levels when its in there getting a seal replaced on the front diff.
Thanks again,
Jason
noproblem 07-06-2004, 11:16 PM I am no mechanic but, I took my truck into the shop (dealership) last week for some minor interior repairs and to have all 4 rotors turned. I did not mention the same a/c problem I was having as mentioned above. When I picked my truck up the service advisor told me they fixed my a/c without me mentioning it. Here comes the verdict directly off a Bankston Chevrolet invoice (warranty)
A/c not cooling and has excessive runoff.
D1180 Switch, Pressure Cycling replaced
1463 switch
FC:6c
Part#89040362
Count: 1
Found low factory charge and low pressure switch sticking open (old Style w/bans) 0.5 OLH to evac and recharge replaced low pressure cycling switch and evac and recharge sys., now cooling to 52 degrees. outside temp 95 and 92% humidity.
I thought this was normal but I guess I was wrong. Since I got the truck back it leaves 1/4 amount of condensation. I hope this helps. Again, I am no mechanic but this work was done on my truck 7-02-2004 and it corrected the problem.Edited by: noproblem
a64pilot 07-08-2004, 07:50 AM The filter is a cabin air filter and since your an 01 it's probably over due replacing. They were deleted on 03's I think probably because they were not being changed and causing problems. Anyway they may not be the problem, but if thev'e been in there since new it wouldn't hurt to have them replaced. BTW there are two of them.
MaxFarmer 07-08-2004, 10:23 AM Where are these cabin filters located?

MaxFarmer 07-28-2004, 05:01 PM Here's an update.... I had the levels checked and they were ok. I bought a set of new cabin filters and changed them out. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE A LONG TIME AGO!!! Since I changed these, the water runoff and significantly dropped off and it cools much better! I would recommend checking these to some of you others with excessive runoff also!
Thanks for the pointers!
Jason
flhrciblueice 07-29-2004, 06:03 AM A lot of guys with the '03 and '04 trucks wish they had the filters.
Atrzes 07-29-2004, 04:40 PM I'll Second that!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif
