Help.
I was told when I purchased my 2004 2500HD Duramax Crew Cab that GM does not support placing any plow on it because of some lame weight/wheelbase ratio nonsense. So I knew this going in. However, what I can't seem to find in any of my paperwork is any warrantee language that states that I am subject to voiding my warrantee if I do it. On the sales side, you can't purchase a plow package with the crew cab, but does anyone out there know specifically where any language exists that says I'm in the soup if I do it? The only thing I find close is the paragraph related to "Original Equipment Alterations", but even that isn't even close to addressing an aftermarket plow. Anyone have any firsthand experience in this? Thanks.

Back to the they gotta prove what you did or didnt do caused the problem. They may get snooty at first and try to bend you over but generally change their attitude if you are firm and dont give in. Genneraly. They cant void your warantee. They can decide that a specific problem isnt coverd because of what you did to it.
If you Take your truck to a scale with the proper amount of ballast in the back behind the tires see if with the plow up if its under the FAWR. Weigh the front wheels and weigh the back ones on a certified scale. IMO they will have a much harder time denying your claim if it is withing the limits.
What blade are you running/going to run?
Hmmm...I have a writen copy of my waranteehttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif Better take a looksie one of these days

Thanks for the reply. I just sold my 1/2 ton and that had a 7 1/2 Fisher Minute Mount plow on it. Used it for 5 years and never had one problem. I would like to go with an 8' Fisher on the Crew Cab, but don't know if Fisher will allow my guys to sell it to me. I know Western has a plow setup for it and has no problem selling to me, so I may end up going that way. Again, I guess it depends on the weight.

fisher and western roll off the same line. kinda like chevy and GMC
With a crew cab you are looking at a long truck, you might want wider than 8' since with the blade angled and you turning your back tires may be running over the windrows.
My advice. Go weigh your truck's front and back axels. Call fisher or take that info plus your wheel base, axel weight ratings and all that to your dealer and they can do the calcs to figure out what blade will be under your FAWR and also what amount of balast you need to run. Or you can go to fishers web site and they have a real good explination of all the calcs so you can figure it out yourself.
Timbrens can be a good addition to the front end. I have em on my truck and they dont affect the ride and are worth the 100 or 150 or what ever I paid.

I went through this....The only plow that you might be able to fit is a Western 7.5 IIRC. My Fisher Dealer told me to take a hike if the truck was a Crew D/A. The only thing close would be the same truck with the 8.1 gasser, in which case, Fisher will put a 7.5 RD series blade on it. Again, I know my dealer will take care of me if I break down with the diesel, but the ball is in his court and not mine. I am pretty much at his mercy. The only next in line with a diesel is the Dodge Quad cab with the Cummins. That carrys a warranty and Fisher will put an 8 footer on it. Other that that, I still have the summer and fall to think about it. I am literally on the fence..

It boils down to 2 choices, either you can carry alot of people or you can carry a decent sized blade. As you can see I said screw giving my friends rides, I am going with a real bladehttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif Some of you guys with familys might not have the option since the "boss" might not like the idea of the kids rolling around in the back so you guys might be stuck with a ***** blade. J/K but you can probably see why I am singlehttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Geek.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif
You have a long or short bed? Long bed will let you run more blade but you will also need it to cover your tracks when turning.
Fisher and western should be saying the same thing. Do the calcs or let them do the calcs to see what you can run without going over your FAWR.
Next blade may be a 8611http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif Chicks dig the widthhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Hug.gif
