I have a 95 Tahoe and the switch is bad . How in the devil do I get the colum appart to change it ?

The ignition switch is not the key cylinder. The switch is down on the column and has a rod that goes up to the key switch. All you have to do is take the kick panel off, take the nuts that hold the column up off and drop it down. At least thats the way it is on older ones, if i'm wrong i'm sure someone will correct me.

I believe you are thinking of the 94 and older trucks , as they did have a switch mounted on the base of the column. The 95 switch is in fact behind the tumbler , and has a harness that runs along the bottom of the column to a bolt together plug. I however can't seem to get the top half of the column cover off to acess the two star headed bolt that mount the switch.
