My wife was driving the other day and pulled into a station, out in the boondocks, filled up and we were on our way. She mentioned things like wow that was some good fuel. The truck is hauling and barley have my foot in it. Well it came time to switch drivers and sure enough she was correct. Then I noticed we were about 1/4 of a tank and I noticed my mileage was way over what it is normally (like 150 miles more). When it came time to get fuel, I filled up this time and my mileage was back to normal. I looked at the receipts and was figuring she got premium diesel. NOPE she filled up with ORD (the red stuff).

So tell me this with the new Censored ULSD coming about. If the sulfur content does nothing for mileage and lubricity why is there such a huge difference in mileage. My truck was pushing almost 500 miles in one tank where the green stuff will take me just past 300. (sill have less that 10K so I am still in break-in I assume). If I wasn't afraid of the fines my truck would always have the red stuff in it now!!

Ok... I am off my  now.

ORD not OFD sorry for the confusion

Interesting...I was in central Florida yesterday and had the option to fill with Off road diesel (.30 cheaper) And didn't, for fear of getting Owned by the regularities...What gives?

They should change the color of the fuels, make the highway diesel red as we are getting bled to death. Still paying a $.30 per gallon premium for diesel in WI.

The only difference between ord and reg diesel is color and tax.

Coincidence

It MAY have had a higher sulphur content but not all dyed fuel does. It depends on the source.

Interesting you can even buy off-road diesel at a station wherever you live. In NY,you can't find one.

my truck always gets over 500 miles on a tank when im on the interstate? did i read this wrong and it was intown driving? also i would check your fuel gauge because sometimes it will read wrong. youll park thinking you have more fuel and when you get back in its a bit lower.
