Hey,

I guess I need some advice here. :o) I've purchased a boost and a pyro gauge. I'm trying to decide the best place to mount the pyro. I want to mount it pre-turbo, but I understand that in time it might fall apart and go through the turbo. Have any of you seen this happen? If so, how many miles was it on the truck prior to it happening?

Also -- In either case I'm trying to find the ideal place and method to install it. Pictures are welcome and appreciated!!! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big%20Smile.gif

Hi, I had my probe installed today. This is the best place to put it, as for it falling apart. My last Dodge with over 400,000 miles, the probe is like new.

By the way, how much did you pay for the gages? And what make are they?

I think I might go pre-turbo. They are Stewart Warner. I purchased the pyro, boost, and a pillar mount for just over $200.

Hi,

I have a wholesale account at ISS Pro, I get my gauges there. There best analog Pyro was $100. I have the trans and boost also.

Definately do it pre-turbo like the above pic. That way you read heat close to the cylinder... That's where the haet starts. Some guys also like a post turbo. They run two probes and a switch between them, using one gauge or you can use two gauges. Many piston engine airplanes have a gauge/thermocouple for every cylinder. Post turbo lets you monitor the turbo but isn't a good indicator of cylinder temps.Edited by: hoot
