As the topic suggests, who offers the best oil by-pass filtration system out there? I'm really interested in an aftermarket filter system for my oil, as well as, pre oem filtration for my fuel to insure maximum longevity of my rig.

Same here! I have over 63,000 miles with it on and never a glitch.

I have heard others using toilet paper as the second filter, some seem too think it is great. I would be worried because isn't toilet paper designed to break down rather quickly? Plus I have seen some brands of chit house paper that looks like a dust storm when you unroll it. How much of that is going through the engine?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

Actually, the roll type element filters are one of the best designs out there. The roll type media is a true depth type filter.

My bypass filtration system is STILL not ready, as we are working on a new end plate to cure some sealing issues, but suffice to say it will be a roll media type spin on filter. The paper however, will be industrial filter paper, and not asswipe...

Another option is the Oilguard Bypass (http://www.oilguard.com). I installed one on my truck at 5 kmiles. I'm at 28kmiles and it's still working well.

Here's a picture of the dipstick with 3kmiles (http://community.webshots.com/photo/65003591/74166883ZQtfsc) on the oil.

Also, BobistheOilGuy.com (http://theoildrop.server101.com/cgi/ultimatebb.cgi) has a forum dedicated to oil bypass filters.

I have the amsoil set up. I love it, but the installation was none too easy. On the Driver's side frame there is a small bulge that you must make some sort of spacer for in order to fit the filter bracket there.

The Amsoil by-pass system is easy to install as long as you use the bracket I have for the GM trucks. I can have on installed in about 45 minutes.

Give us a call.

When I bought my Amsoil dual by-pass oil filter setup there were no special brackets being manufactured for our trucks, so I had to make my own. But once I had it figured out how I was going to do it. I had the setup completed in less then an hour.

Thanks for all the comments, geez it looks like Amsoil is by far the current winner. I do like the inlet and return on the Amsoil running from the filter adapter directly to the dual filter housing, keeps unnecessary hose lenght to a minimum.

Hey Kennedy...........when you do get your version completed, will it be a similar plumbing set up as the Amsoil unit?

I did read in a search that a unit called a Harvard 750 really cleaned and extended the oil life considerably. This was documented and endorsed by someone from AVLube. Does anybody know anything about this unit?

jbplock,

The juice on level 5 will change that dipstick. Even with my oilguard after 1k it's black. Thats why I change it frequently.

Is there anyone out there who has the fs2500 (http://fs2500.com/) system?

Dave, Good point on the juice! I'm not running any power mods.

Also, as we all know, UOA (used oil analysis) is the best way to check performance of the filters and determine optimum OCI (oil change interval). The color of the oil is not really a good way to judge. I used to get excellent UOA results from my 98 K3500 6.5 TD with a Baldwin B50 bypass filter. The oil was always pitch black when I changed it and sent in the samples.
