I know this has been beat to death put Im stuck between the mbrp aluminized 5" turbo back and the 4" 409 stainless turbo back. I realy want 5" because I can only imagine how bad arse it sounds but I like the idea of the stainless being able to hold up and Im not gonna run a tip so it would possably look better. Both system are around the 500$ range so price is not the contributing factor in my decision. I will be running a muffler delete pipe also.

By the way I am running a cat and muffler delete right know on the stock sytem and havnt got any codes yet. Would going to a larger diameter pipe make a differnce?

firemn260,

The removal of the cat is what will trip codes, dropping the muffler won't! Since you said you wanted a full system you'll most likely get codes and a CEL. Get a fingetstick and a blocker plate and that cure it. The aluminized in Baltimore will start to rust at any where the pipe has been welded on or cut as that removes the aluminized coating etc. It'll still last a long time though. For most folks that want stainless and still want the "look" of a 5 inch we get them the 4 inch stainless and a 5 or 6 inch tip etc. If you have any questions please call, we'll be glad to help you.

How long do you suspect an aluminzed system would hold up in farm conditions where a lot of dirt and mud could get around it? I live in missouri so winter months get some salt on the roads. I just would like it to last at least 5-8 yrs.

duramaxphil,

You're in the ball park for lifesapn on aluminized, it really depends on how many miles as well as years etc. Most likely you'll be OK!

The aluminized will stand up just about as well as 409 stainless. 304 stainless (which is much more expensive) will last a good bit longer. From what I have read, 409 stainless is mostly for looks because it doesn't stand the abuse much better than aluminized. I good tip I saw on a car show is to get spray paint all the welds on the system to avoid rust points. I used silver High Temp exhaust spray paint on all the welds and the muffler.
