I wanted to install a Oilguard filter on my truck (2004.5 LLY 2500 allison) but I also liked the idea of a fumoto valve for oil changes. Oilguard does not have anything to accomodate the fumoto valve. "we put two 1/4 pipe thread openings on the plug so you can use one to drain the oil". Right. Didn't like that idea, especially with a skip plate. Looked at the idea of using the oil fill cap for the return line. Didn't like that idea because of the hose length and routing issues. So I ordered just the drain plug adapter for the Duramax. There is not enough material on the top of the plug to drill and tap for a valve. It would plug the return line, just like Bill said.

After a bit of thought I went and got some metric nuts. Found a 16MM nut is just about the same size as the oilgaurd adapter. Ordered a F108 valve. The regular nut has enough thread for the valve with plenty leftover. I tried a 16MM jam nut and it was slightly to short. I had a bore that I used to releive the top of the adapter, drilled a hole all the way though and had the nut welded on the adapter.

I suppose you could trim the valve or just use the regular nut and the top of the adapter would not have to be releived.

So now I have the modified oilguard adapter screwed in with the fumoto valve on the end. The valve is above the
cross member holding the back of the skid plate so it will not get wacked.

That sounds great. I never liked that return line arrangement so I stayed away from getting an Oilgaurd.
They need to develop a better way of doing it, then I'd get one. Don't have any pics do ya?
