Have you ever had a flat tire, tried to change it and could not get the lug nuts loose because they were either rusted on or a brain surgeon between gigs had put them on with an impact wrench? I had some so tight that I turned the engine over trying to get them off.
I carry a cross type lug wrench, a big one at that, but sometimes you need a little more help. I came up with a simple device that allows you to stand on the lug wrench if necessary to get the nuts loose. It is nothing more then a piece of 2x6 with some holes drilled in it. I used yellow pine because it is tough and strong. All you have to do is drill a series of holes down the center line of the 2x6. The holes must be large enough to allow the end of your lug wrench to fit through. (I am not giving any dimensions because you should size your helper for your needs.)

To use the helper, just put the correct end of the lug wrench on the lug nut, slip the other end of the wrench through the appropriate hole in the helper and place the helper on the ground. You can now stand on the end of the lug wrench arm. By the way, I painted the end of the lug wrench that fits the lugs nuts on my truck so I don’t have to trial and error it each time I use it.
