I have recently installed the newly released Pacific Performance LLY computer mod. The program is extremely smooth regarding engine performance. Transmission shifting was extremely smooth. There are three settings, stock, 98 HP and 175 HP measured at the flywheel. I recently completed an 1800 mile round trip through the Rocky Mountains. Pulling a 10,000 pound enclosed car trailer on 98 HP setting, the vehicle never shifted below fourth gear even on the longest and steepest grades. I topped the longest and steepest grades at 63 MPH. I set the cruise at 4 MPH over the posted speed limit so most of the time I was pulling this load on the level I was between 74 and 79 MPH. EGT's were very manageable, exceeding 1300 degrees, pre-turbo, on only the most severe grades and never exceeding 1425 degrees in OD before before the downshift occurred. In fourth the EGT's settled down to 1250 degrees. My average miles per gallon for the entire trip was 9.6 MPG. My mileage in mixed, no-load driving is 18.6 MPG. I do not have any data yet on a strictly HWY drive with no load. I expect it will be 20+ MPG. This program out performed another very well known program which I had in my previous LB motor. The only other mod to this new vehicle is a full 4" exhaust with cat intact. I also had a full 4" exhaust plus AFE intake on my previous LB 2500 HD.

I would be really nervous about running the EGT to 1425 deg with the LLY's VVT Garret turbo, especially when towing. But I get nervous about a lot of things (job does it too me).

Have you seen the stock EGT's on a LLY?

Here is a little information about the VNT that Garrett makes for the Duramax.

Max continuous turbine inlet temperature 1320 deg.

Temperature at which Vanes seize 1400 deg.

So I would be very careful trying to run those temperatures for to long or you maybe buying yourself a turbo.

How do you think I know what the EGT's were? I have the pyrometer installed pre-turbo per my post. I believe your info regarding the EGT limitations are totally incorrect. I did compare this to the stock mode and EGT's were approximately 50 degress higher under the most severe load condtions. What I reported was detailed and accurate-not a questimate as most posts are.

I agree with andy. Stock exhaust temps are very high from what I have seen. If you aren't seeing those temps on your lly you probably need a better pyro.
