My temperature hangs betwen 2 or 3 marks below 210 and 210 most of the time, and if I punch it for a few seconds, it will climb to about 210 and then gradually drop back down. All that seems a little high for my liking.
Oil pressure is just above the 30 mark at idle. I thought the Duramax ran at pretty high oil pressure, but that doesn't seem all that high.
Is this OK?

Sounds reasonable. Mine hangs around 30psi at idle as well and runs around 60psi at 60mph.
Engine temp around 192°.

Mine stays below 210 all the time even during hard towing. My oil pressure when hot is 1 mark below 30 at idle and 60 at 60mph. I brought it back to the dealer because I thought the oil pressure was too low at idle, but they say it normal. They said they checked 3 others on the lot and they were all the same.

203-207 deg F for coolant and anywhere from 15-90 lbs oil press depending on temp and engine speed.
1 mark below 30 lbs is fine for idle hot conditions. That's about 25lbs.
The gauges are not accurate laboratory instruments, so some variation may be due to the gauge tolerances. However, with a 2003 and 5w-40 Rotella, I typically run, in hot weather (not towing) approx. 60 psi or slightly less at 1700 rpm, and maybe slightly above 60 psi at over 2500 rpm. At idle, 25-30 psi. I understand that the oil pressure relief valve was adjusted downward starting with the 2003 model year, and that earlier Duramaxes may run more pressure.
On water temp, I have never seen 210. The hottest is a notch below that, and in cooler weather with low loads, I sometimes see even lower temps, around 180 or so.
On the 2003, the lowest mark on the gauge is 160F, not the more typical 100F.

2001 runs below 210 at all times and cold oil pressure is 80, hot is never below 40 and 60mph hot is around 70.

I noticed my pressure at idle went down when I did my first oil change and put in the Rotella synthetic 5/40. I'm not worried about it. I think the hottest mine has gotten so far is maybe 1 mark below the 210. The trans has never gotten to 200. I've towed my toy hauler a couple times now. I believe that weighs over 10K loaded up.
My towing mileage isn't that great, but I'm only going by the DIC and I'm running 285's on the stock wheels, so I know it's a little better than the 8 mpg or so that it shows. I've never been much of a mileage driver thoughhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif

Yesterday pulling my 10,000 GVWR Travel trailer up a long grade my Edge Attitude would set off the warning that I had exceeded 210 degrees. The temp guage on the dash never reached 210. The attitude read as high as 212. It seems that the Attitude temp moves up and down and that the dash guage moves very slowly.
The trans temp guage stayed at about 175-180 and max egt was 1200 degrees.
I traveled 721 miles and used 68 gal of diesel for 10.60 mpg. Last year made the same trip with total stock truck (same travel trailer) and averaged 11.7 mpg. Mileage is calculated by hand not from the DIC which is not reliable.
It appears that the addition of intake, exhaust and Edge Attitude has decreased my economy. I leave the Attitude on level 2 both towing and not towing. Truck runs great-no problems at all.Edited by: bigchev
