The cab vent you speak of on the drivers side is where I ran a cable for a mag mount ham radio antenna, worked fine, go for it.

I used Diamond Antenna Teflon Wire Mounts. (C101NMO) The wire is very thin and will handle 100 watts. I have two of these . One for a CB and the other for my ham radio.

I ran them out both back doors on an 03 GMC extcab. They are about 33 dollars each. I then mounted them under the tonneau cover rails with stainless stell brackets that I made. I hope the photos come through.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/uploads/CBZ_Nmo.jpg

Here is the hidden wire with the use of a door edge guard I bought from the auto store for a buckhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/uploads/4ED_wirehide.JPG

In the two photos I used aweather proof electrical tape that formed around the teflon wire and held it to the door frame to hold it in place. The door edge went on with double sided scotch adhesive that you put window gutters on with. i have not had one come off yet.

i did not want to drill holes and these antennas fit the needs.

You can get the wire up under the front of the bed, in front of the rear wheel well and feed it up into the stake pocket from the inside. That's how I did my propane on my Dmax.... no holes needed in the bed.

I went through the cab vent also, just have to push something through initially to get a hole in the foam filter that is inside of it and then the cable will go though pretty easily. Then ran the cable under all the plastic trim moldings around the edge of the carpet into the console. Worked pretty good.
