Alright guys i know i have another thread going i could have posted this in but i needed quick advice because i'm about to leave for a 5 day 1000 mile trip.

I noticed tonight when doing all the maint. it had a map sensor on the firewall with the wires connected but no tubing going to the motor. The port just is open... is this some kinda baro correction on a 2 sensor setup or i am missing a tube going to something?

Also i put on strait exhaust going from the 3" dp back, air cleaner, changed the oil to the valvoline blue premium, purlator1 oil filter, puralator air filter, removed the cone in the air box but left the snorkel (running out of time) and FINALY found the right sensor i think it was t150 or something like that from GP soren and got my temp gauge running again.. what a relief it was only a bad sensor, also its been running at 185-200 seems to be staying low but it was bouncing around depending on how hard i was driving it.

Now some freinds told me when i launched, shifted and started into a new gear it would smoke pretty good, but nothing like our programmed 4" duramax. seemed to have a TON TON more power after all the above listed work, i couldn't believe it.. Also sounds awesome.

Thanks a million ! leaving at 4 am in the morning so i'll check before i leave

That's the BARO sensor, not the MAP sensor, which is in the middle of the intake.

Luck on the trip................

So that should be open like it is? I was wondering if it was a two sensor setup. So does that do real time corrections as you drive or just when you start etc etc?

Thanks for the quick reponse

My 1500 "S" motor has a hose on it....My brothers Dually same year "F" motor no hose....never had one.

S motors had a hose on it so the ECM knew how much vacuum there wqas in the system so it could properly actuate the EGR valve. F engine has no hose on it. And yes it provides real time data to the ECM for boost corrections as you go up or down in altitude.

It may only look at BARO at start - OBDI "S" and OBDII "S" and "F" looks at MAP sensor for BARO during Wait-to-Start, then reads MAP while engine is running

some interesting stuff, so you guys think its ok with nothing going to it then? Also how much smoke is ok... i was assuming my smoke during launch and during gear shift is ok? it seems to have a little lingering smoke but i'm not sure how much 6.5L's smoke...

I'll keep you guys posted on how she does for temps, gas millage, ect ect...
