: Suncoast in Montana
blnagel 06-26-2004, 05:09 PM Does anyone install the suncoast in Montana? Or close by? I am needing this done I fear. My tranny was "slipping" last night. (I think so, it would not engage from a stop, then after1/2-1 second it did engage, then it felt slow to respond). I dont know. What is the transgo people are talking about. motovet 06-27-2004, 02:51 AM Joe at Suncoast will point you in the right direction. Just got mine in yesterday here in Washington. You will like it!
blnagel 06-27-2004, 07:51 PM I dont know which upgrade I should go with. The suncoast is what everyone is talking about but I have heard about the ATS and also trans-go. I dont do any dragracing but I like a quick truck. I do pull a 9,000# 5er. I want something to hold up. Help Ben http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Rock On.gif
Sandman 06-29-2004, 04:21 PM Ben,
You should call Joe Webb and talk to him about what mods you're planning on and what you tow. I went with a stage 3 going on 2 months ago. I can say the tranny is now awesome. Just started using the LP with my tuner....and she shifts fast and slightly firm...zero hint of slipping etc.
So, I'd recommend talking to the man...he'll help you figure out which stage would work. Finding a shop to install might be the biggest problem. I was lucky my Uncle's shop is ramping up to do more Allisons...but his shops are in the Twin Cities...MN.
Good Luck,
Wayne
Maximum Overdrive 07-06-2004, 08:15 PM Wayne,
I sent you a PM but will post here as well. I was wondering the name of your Uncles shop, I live within a 120 miles of the Twin Cities and have had a problem finding anyone in my area that is comfortable with tearing into the Alli. If you could provide me with a name and number I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Bob
Sandman 07-06-2004, 08:58 PM Bob,
Got your message. Sent you e-mail per the PM. If there is anything else....give me a shout. I'll be gone for a couple of days...Wed. to Sat. afternoon. And I'm on-call on Sunday...but I'll be checking for messages.
Good Luck,
Wayne
blnagel 07-09-2004, 03:06 PM I found someone in Billings that does the Suncoast install. Has done several plus his own. Joe Webb recommended him to me. Sounds good. $3300 for level III out the door. Sound right? Am seriously thinking this is the route to go and wife does agree NICE! Any comments.?

Price I got from about the only shop I've found so far who would or could do one was $3600 plus fluid and sales tax on a Stage III.
The folks on the forum here who do them said that was inline, but they do them a bit cheaper. So if you can get it done by someone you trust, including the fluid and taxes, or "out the door" for $3300, I'd say you've got an excellent price.
blnagel 07-09-2004, 04:46 PM Sounds good and since Joe Webb recommended him I do trust him. I think I will go ahead and bit the bullet. I know I wont be disappointed. No sales tax here in Big Sky country so even better yet huh!

blnagel 07-10-2004, 12:44 AM Ordered the suncoast III today and will be in the next several weeks. I am so EXCITED and now I have to hurry up and wait.

motovet 07-10-2004, 02:39 AM That is a good price Ben. I paid $3600 for the install Joe recommended here in Washington. Get ready to rock! Oh, and save up for more power...you will be wanting it when you feel all the new holding power.
blnagel 07-10-2004, 02:49 AM I know. I see all these people doing these huge bumps in power. My concern then would be the engine holding up and for how long. I dont really think I will be getting anymore big power upgrades but other things like air intake and shocks ect would be something in the future. I am excited regardless of the bill. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Throw Up.gif

It sounds like you found a keeper! Only upgrades/add-ons the "little woman" knows about on my truck is exterior stuff and shocks. Out of sight, out of mind.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif As long as I have money for her when she needs it, she doesn't say much. She just wants to know how much all that chrome and other stuff costs when I am adding to the scooter.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif
blnagel 07-12-2004, 11:13 AM Any problems to engine after doing all these upgrades to Dmax then to tranny? Makes one curious to see how long these engines will accept the abuse. I plan on keeping mine for a LONG time since I love this truck. How many miles out there on these played hard engines?
