I changed the thermostat in my truck last night and when I got done there was a fuel line that ran into a valve of some sorts that was attached to one of the housing bolts I was just wondering if anyone could help me to figure out what it went to.

It's the water drain valve. Its designed purpose is to drain water from the fuel filter housing, but it more commonly is used for testing lift pump operation.
