Can Someone tell me if the GM 75w90 Synthetic Axle Fluid aka "Grape Juice" Part number has changed. The number I knew of was #12378261. The local Dealer says it changed to #89021677 is this correct or are they trying to screw me over.Gm parts direct shows both numbers as valid but the dealers number is almost $3 a quart cheaper than the other. Any help or info on this would be greatly appreciated.

It's prob the AC Delco part #. Same stuff,


In Canada the AC Delco part # is 89021678


Up here it is $16.95 per qt

I was at my local dealer the other day and was given the same information by the Parts counter man. He had a bottle of 75W-90 Synthetic on the shelf for display with the old part number of 12378261. (This is same number as listed in my 2004 owners main manual and Duramax supplement manual.) He said that was an old bottle. He went on to say the new bottles have a GM number of 89021677. He did not know the reason for the change. I asked and he said they did NOT have an AC/Delco version of the gear lube. The old number showed a listed price of about 29.xx and the new number listed for about 26.xx.

Switch to Shaeffer's 741 75w-90. Got mine for $120 for 5 gallon pale (unfortunately the smallest size they produce 741 in). Works out to $6 dollars a quart if my math is correct and if you compare numbers, is better than most other brand's available.

Has anyone had any sucess ordering the 75W-90 grape juice gear lube from GMPartsDirect.Com?

Bringing up either the old or new part number shows the following description:

"UNABLE TO SHIP AS BOTTLES ARE NOT SEALED FROM FACTORY"

Thought I read some posts in the past where members of this board were able to order this stuff from these guys.

But...I stock/sell it.. Its on my site, listed under the old part no, as the only change was the bottle.
