: Tranny shifting crazy AGAIN!!!

I posted something about my tranny shifting funny less than a month ago. Took it in for warranty work. The dealer said the computer was losing communication with the tranny, but while they had it couldn't make it shift funny. I told them it only happens after I've been driving a while. So they keep the truck and test drive it the next day for 50 miles... nothing, everything is working fine. They clear the codes and give it back. On my way home the check engine light comes back on and starts shifting funny again. But the dealer is closed. I had to leave town that night, so I drive it as it is. After about 150 miles the light turns off and it starts shifting fine, through the little towns I had to go through. Anyways I thought it had fixed itself. Well today driving aroud town it starts shifting funny again ( holding the rpm's before shifting, shifting very firm, not wanting to shift into 5th, and sometimes shifting into 5th way too early (30 mph)). Check engine light on again!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif By the way, the tech that was working on my truck was "in training". Just from being on this forum, I knew as much as he did.

Anyone else having these or similar problems? Maybe the NSBU? Gonna take it to the dealer on Monday, hopefully they will get it right this time. Truck has 2200 miles, did it the first time at 1700 milesEdited by: craSSh

The tech needs to go by whatever code was set and check the entire circuit of that component. It could be a bad connection somewhere. Possibly the NSBU also.

The service manager said they checked and cleaned all connections, but after looking and my reciept I don't think they did anything. Total labor time .3 hrs. I think they just looked at what codes then drove it around, found nothing, and then cleared the codes.

I think I remember him saying it tripped 7 codes. (I think "106" was one of the codes).

In my experience its very tuff to educate the dealer and its better simply to find another dealer elsewhere and let the newby learn on someone else.

See the post-----Same problem (again)/not fixed---a couple of post below yours!

Not sure if it is related, but they replaced the valve body in the tranny on my new truck today. Another comment on my post said he had a similar problem like mine and they replaced the valve body. In a private message to him, he indicated that was 18 months ago and no problems since. You may ask about the valve body.

Also, go to the salesman and ask them what warranty they can give you for free. My dealer gave me 75,000/6 years on the tranny after the first time and said they are kicking it to 100,000 after today. The 75,000/6 year is in writing so far, but not the 100,000. Complain all the way to the top!!!!

Good luck. Edited by: dchilders
