: Duramaximizer performance programer
highman1959 06-25-2004, 10:01 PM Does anyone have one on their truck? Tell me what you think of it. Does it make the engine noisey? Is it good for towing?
Any and all feedback welcome.http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif
Texas Red Wagon 06-26-2004, 04:13 AM I have never had a noisy engine with mine. Fine for towing, for what I tow. I will say depending on what all you want to do. Their is a lot better juice, quad , predator, TTS makes a great program for towing and what ever else you might want to do.

highman1959 06-26-2004, 10:50 AM Scott,
I tow a 8,000 travel trailer. Just looking for a mild upgrade for towing that doesn't require exhaust and air flow improvements. I'm not interested in racing or hot rodding and something that can be returned to stock if warranty work is needed. I know this isn't the easiest installation on the market but I'm not to concerned with that either.
Bryan,
Max Power 06-26-2004, 11:33 AM Just curious, what do you like about the durmaximizer that the Juice doesn't offer? The juice sounds like the perfect thing for you to me.
Mackin 06-26-2004, 11:59 AM The Duramaximizer is fuel rail pressure enhancer and a pain in the tail to install .... Not sure this would be the safest method I would choose ...
For simple Plug and Play easy to remove for warranty work the Juice gets my vote ....

Unless the duramaxamizer is free and even then, I think you would be happier with something else. IT does not remove easy and my dealership found mine with out a problem. The juice, predator, or quad would all be good for what you are doing.

tbone1227 06-26-2004, 01:55 PM my vote would be the TTS tow tune, as you stated you were looking for a mild upgrade for towing purposes, and it works great, very smooth, good power http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif , but you should also look into intake and exhaust as well if youre towing - cheap cost for better flow IMHO
Bulldog 06-26-2004, 03:39 PM Hey Highman1959/Bryan...I have a similiar situation with towing and am now enjoying the new Quadzilla Power Module for the LLY (LB7 also available). Stage 1 is excellent for towing your weight. It significantly improves throttle response, torque and horse power in my towing application. And you've got the remaining 2 higher stages for whatever comes your way. Installation is a very simple plug-in into your existing wiring harness and then can run the on-demand switch into the cab if needed through a pencil sized hole. Complete removal for service work, like installation, takes less than 5 minutes.

You don't say .Are you willing to debate the problems associated as reported here at the Diesel Place by it's users? I see people jumping away from the junk .Or are you just anouther mouth piece?
Micheal Tomac 06-26-2004, 10:41 PM the duramaximizer works great as a 2nd stacker box for adding a rail pressure
Kartattack 06-27-2004, 10:44 AM I like my Quad, thank you very much. I've had no trouble with it. I sure wish Quad was allowed on here to defend himself and his product. The bashers have a field day, he doesn't get to respond, and potential users think he sells junk which is not the case at all.
tbone1227 06-27-2004, 11:41 AM i hear you on that and can only speak about my experience with the quad LLY box - and it just wasnt dialed in, talked to a few others that have tried it as well and same thing - but maybe these were isolated cases or changes needed to be made. with that said it does seem like some trucks run better with certain mods while others wont, not sure why ??
Kennedy 06-27-2004, 12:16 PM Juice or Van Aaken on lower power levels woukld be my suggestion. Banks is also decent for those not looking for boisterous power, but the install sucks.
Juice or VA simple install in 10 minutes or so and away you go. Unplug and return to stock simply...
highman1959 06-27-2004, 09:08 PM I have looked into the Juice and it looks to be a nicer setup than the Duramaximizer. One reason I was looking seriously at the Duramixizer is they claim there is no need for a EGT sensor at all levels and is not neccessary to upgrade exhaust. The other reason is the cost. I found the Duramaxizer for $349 and the Juice @ $585 and with the Attitude Monitor @ $810. Is the Attitude Monitor needed to reduce the risk of damage? I don't mind spending the extra money if the cost justifies the result. ?????
Bryan,
04'deezil 06-27-2004, 09:27 PM Just bought a Edge with Attitude for $600. I would work on the exhaust and intake as well though. Your adding more fuel to the engine, so it needs more air and then the exhaust needs to escape faster... You don't have to spend hundreds and hundreds on exhaust and air filters. I cut teh muffler off mine and may do the "cat" as well. Not loud at all. as soon as the tests are back from the filters I am changing my stock filter as well.

Bryan,
If it is strictly for performance and no towing, Don't sweat the EGT probe on the Juice. Many including myself have gotten along fine without it. Just don't tow in anything higher than level 2 and you should be fine. I finally put the EGT probe in after a year of running the Hot Juice.
sdaver 06-28-2004, 08:47 AM duramaximiser ia a pain in the ass to install/remove.........good for stacking.........90 hp juice is all you neeed
Mark Craig 06-28-2004, 09:24 AM highwayman1959,
Any manufacturer that tells you this:
"One reason I was looking seriously at the Duramixizer is they claim there is no need for a EGT sensor at all levels and is not neccessary to upgrade exhaust."
Is just wanting to sell you something and is NOT concerned with you or your truck engine. Run to the nearest Juice dealer, call us if you want but we will ALWAYS reccomend a pyro via the Attitude or a seperate gauge etc etc.

Where did you get the Edge with Attitude for $600? Was that a new with warranty price?
highman1959 06-28-2004, 05:26 PM I just ran accross this. Basically is says to stay away from the Edge on the Duramax because of problems. What are you experiences? Is this something that has been resolved?

That's some funny stuff right dare .... Sounds like a scorned distributer ....
Ask around about Edges reputation ,it speaks for itself ....

White Duramax 06-28-2004, 09:10 PM I would go with the Van Aaken 70/110. Switchable on the fly and not too expensive, egts are really good and nice smooth power. I would only you the Duramaximizer as a stacker box, nothing else.
RanaExcavating1 06-29-2004, 09:07 AM I saw the same info on that web site regarding the Edge product. I called and asked why and they explained that it was because they have had a difficult time with the attitude. As we have seen the attitude has been the cause of little problems (not engine related) with other electronic devises in the vehicle. After speaking with them I order the Edge Juice w/o the attitude from the same vendor. I am happy that I did.
I also have the duramaximizer stacked with it and am very happy with the combination. 50,000 milers and still going strong no codes with a virgin Alli.

Word is, this is a disgruntled and NO LONGER authorized Edge dealer who couldn't play by the rules. Edge is not too difficult to get along with, but they do have their policies and wishes.
I think we'll see more of this as time goes on and the insincere and unwilling to cooperate get weeded out...
Trippin 06-29-2004, 02:40 PM I forgot to answer the Duramaxamizer question. I use mine as a stacker/research tool. If I think the code needs more fuel I can do it easily with a turn of the knob.
I wouldn't buy it for my primary performance enhancer.
highman1959 06-30-2004, 07:19 PM Well based on everyone's advise I ordered the Edge with attitude today. I can't wait to install it. Thanks for all the knowledge and experience provided in your replies. It made my decision much easier and I'm now sure this was the best choice for me.

I have had the juice w/Attitude for the past eight months with zero problems. It is a great product. You will not believe the difference it makes.
