thanks for rading this. new to the forum... very interesting. recently became interested in diesels... i've tried 'em all, and really like to duramax! i've read a lot of posts here and other boards re: problems w/ gen. 1 duramax motors. question is.... should i wait for '05 for gen. 2 duramax?

re: the injector problems w/ duramax, does replacement of the injectors fix the problem?

thanks!

GM is continuing to look into the injector failure issue from what I can tell by their acknowledgment that there is a problem with the announcement of two TSB on this subject ...

1) Replace all eight ....

2) Extended warranty on injectors to 7yr/200,000 Miles ....

Is it a fix or a band aid ?? Will they finally produce a fail proof injector for the Bosch Common Rail ?? Who knows ,I'm not personally disscourage yet ....They are in the 3rd generation injector.... I guess we wait see how many LLY's fail ...

The problem is intermediate at best but as we all rack up the miles we'll find out how or if it's a epidemic for the earlier years ...

Remember forums (INTERNET) bring out more of the problems then what can be reality ....

It's not like when you visit the GM service departments it's parking lot is loaded up with Duramaxes to repair ...

Good luck ...

Research all incentives.... get ask for a GM certificate if anyone has one for employee discount (Howard???)

Get the price down to invoice or lower. I have a GM card with almost $2000 on it... It all adds up.

If you have a dealer "find" one for you at another dealer, just get the info. Then search it out with GM's inventory site and find it. You can make a deal over the phone and go pick it up yourself. That's what I did. Went 300 miles on Amtrak and drove it home. You the best deals when you buy from the owning dealership.

Don't let the dealer add any costs that you feel aren't fair just because you're excited. Don't look excited.
