I've got 1800 miles on my 2004.5 LLY, and am thinking about getting an Edge Juice w/Attitude, and was curious how much break-in time you gave it BEFORE adding the Juice? I've seen pro's and con's as to when it should be added, but that is like the whole break-in methodology story.

Any suggestions??

Is the Hot Juice an add on to the Edge Juice w/ attitude or a complete unit? Basically, can I buy what's out now and then upgrade to the Hot Juice later?

yitsockm yes you can upgrade to the hot juice later. You can have your box reflashed. After your tranny upgrade........ Edited by: Max Power

Hot Juice is merely a programming update to the software on the Juice.

The stock Allison will NOT handle the power of a Hot Juice. There is enhanced trans protect in the programming, BUT if you give the program the ability to cross the line, it can and will....

dmaxalliTech

I would have to bet that even the 90 hp tune in the LLY trucks will strain the Tranny some... Remember, factory bumped the numbers on the engine, but left the trans alone. If you start out at a higher level and add power to that, your above what an LB7 with a 90 hp tune was. Be carefull, and you LLY guys will, IMO, need upgrades sooner.

Eric

What's the rumor to the backdown in 5th gear power (stock) in the LLY ?? This being the reason no Allison upgrade was done this model year ...
As this seems to be the most problematic area for the Allison to hold in higher torque applications ....

What's the diff between the Juice and Hot Juice? Do both go up to Level 5 or does only the Hot Juice go up to Level 5?

Or, is the Hot Juice just a bit "hotter" at each of the 5 levels?

Thanks.

When you get the hot juice, level 1 is removed and everything else gets bumped up one. Then the new hot level is 5

The Juice had at least 3 hp ratings for the LB7, 90 or regular,125 or HOT, and 145(advertised level??) additional rwhp, what are the ratings with respect to the LLY Juice?

I intend to upgrade the tranny down the road but want to be sure I don't destroy it before then.

Actually there were 30 Beta testers if my info from Edge was correct. SteveNorCal summed it up the best by stating "Amazingly Awesome". The reason you have not heard from the rest of us to much is because we are busy out buying new rear tires. As stated in another thread Edge should cover in their warranty the constant frying of the rear tires. It is the hardest part to get use to is all the extra power, you find yourself out looking for unspecting F**d & Short Cummings drivers to show what our DMax's will do when unleashed. I'm being facetious in the above statement but the extra power is awesome. There is just no other way to say it. Onced experienced you just won't want to go back to stock. Of course this is all IMHO. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif

Can't say for sure on that one. Never gone head to head. However, my LLY did 375-380 rwhp with stock tranny on level 5. With the Stage III Suncoast, 410-420. I know these are just figures and not track times, but its something to go off of.

Shoulda seen Nate disappear in the cloud on that one run. I was atching him in the mirror. That 48" fan did a nice job of breaking up the smoke. I'm hoping to have a chimney put in soon.

As for the Juice. I'm cautiously optimistic that the LLY Juice will be the most highly refined release Edge has made. I'm told that they did more testingon this unit than any previous release.

I doubt that the LLY will challenge the LB7 for horsepower champeen any time soon. Could be wrong, but...

Mcrat what do you think between the TTS tow/tune and the Edge level 2? seems about the same gains but how does it respond? or seat of the pants. I am looking for better towing and general driving. If I went edge I doubt I would go over 2 to save tranny. Edited by: Wickedfn4u

My old HotJuiced '01 lives just down the street. I have a production Juice/Attitude on the LLY and if I see the 01, I turn the other way. It wouldn't even be close. Some things work better on the LLY like the cruise control. It dosen't hunt when on the higher levels and it is smoother on power application when towing. But for raw power-smoke the tires, the LB7 will walk away any day. I kinda miss that '01.

I really haven't tested them against each other for performance. I was waiting for the production release (which I now have) before I compare them on a dyno.

The Edge "seems" to be equal be to the TTS Tow when set at about 3, but "seems" can be misleading. The TTS is so smooth that it doesn't feel as fast as it really is. I drag race every month (or more) in a car, and I'm usually a good judge of how fast something goes. The TTS caught me by surprise when I picked up the slip. It didn't feel like it dropped 2 full seconds, but it did.

But like I've said in the past, there is NOTHING to find fault with the TTS Tow Tune for daily driving and towing. Edge will have a tough act to follow on this one. I certainly love the features on the Edge, but I like the driveability better on the TTS so far.

Of course I reserve the right to change my opinion after I get some seat time with the Edge production release. But I really can't see something being smoother than the TTS. I would venture a guess that the best you could do is match it.

Thanks CntrlCal, that is what i was experiencing too with my LLY w/Quad box. I wish i could still find a new LB7 as i would try to sell my LLY and get me one ! Maybe Edge will refine the Juice and make it run harder on the LLY, we hope !

When do you think you will get them on the dyno?

I really like the feedback on the TTS but by the time you add the extra PCM because I have the dealer do all my work, gages to be equal to the edge/attitude you well over the cost. I guess I am looking for the perfect world. I just would love the performance of the TTS and the goodies on the E/A (gages, plug and play or remove). But also not damage the transmission in the long run.

Q for the other beta testers here...

Did Edge send you a call ticket for this, or did you ship it up there on your own to get the s/w and h/w updated in the beta units? (I have the "bark" as you call it as well)

Jim

Zeeb
07-14-2004, 05:58 PM
Jim,

Don't know if they intend to send you something, most of us were talking to them so regularly, they just told some and I actually found out about it here. But it had only been two days since I'd talked to them.

Call Edge and ask for Cody, he's the one who is handling the Beta conversions. I'm not sure, but I think if you want an exchange, you'll have to give them credit card info and they'll send it out. If you are willing to pull it off and send it back, that's a no charge deal. I don't think you even have to pay shipping, but I'm not sure about that.

Since you've experienced the bark, you'll need the new hardware, so you'll get a different box than you send in anyway.

Call Cody, I'm sure he'll get you set up...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

Well I do not ever plan on taking it in to the stealer, BUT if I someday have to, I will remove it along with the juice/attitude. It just has an adhesive on the back and will come off. I'm guessing it will not be reusable.
