Had my EGR valve replaced at 15k miles, now I am at 26k miles and I am getting the same 2 codes again. Guess I will let them fix it again and then look into a blocker plate.
I can reset the codes and it will go 3-400 miles before it sets the codes again.

What failed on the first EGR valve? Was it an eletrical failure or was it stuck due to contamination and soot?
What codes are you getting?

401 and 406, it was soot the first time, guessing it's the same again as I can reset the codes and drive for a while before getting another code. I assume that electrical failure would result in an immediate code.

P0401 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Flow Insufficient
P0406 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Position Sensor Circuit High Voltage.
Yes it sound as if the valve is sticking.
Did the dealer give you a reason for the problem the first time? i.e. Why is it sticking?
It could be a flaw with the valve itself that is causing it to stick.

They didn't give a reason for the first failure. I have read in this forum that standard practice at this time is to remove and clean the valve. They did get it replaced the same day on the first go round which was also a fluid service. I just had the fluids changed 2 weeks ago. I will probably keep resetting it until the next service as I can not feel or see any difference in performance/smoke etc.
I am assuming that there may be a flaw in the design.

Let us know what they find/say when you get it fixed.
Good Luck! :)

The flaw in the design is these engines should not be injesting diesel fumes. Does anyone know if the finger stick will eliminate these codes? I'm ordering one tonight. Mine threw the p046 code again today.
